I hate to say it but vox actually has a decent and fairly well balanced write up on Why

http://www.vox.com/2014/12/16/7401705/oil-prices-falling

They mention the relevant facts,  but its up to you to connect the dots.  Why did OPEC let prices drop?  1)  to kill the US  Shale Oil Boom 2) to establish themselves at the bargaining table with Russia and to a lesser extent China, and also send a clear message to the United States that the petrodollar might no longer be a thing. 4)  it kicks the can economically - lowering the input costs of nearly everything, inflation will take a bit longer to catch up to us, while it will probably boot production in the "developing" nations.

Or at least that is my take.  Oil prices will probably continue to fall for the moment, because that is the policy that will advance a number of largely unrelated agendas around the world.  Its is probably not a sign that things are getting better.

I find it odd that nobody seems to mention how hard this has hit Russia...how much it impacts their oil-driven economy.

But it is good for everyone's war machine, so bullish for war.

As for non-OPEC producers though, this impact can only be temporary...wells can be capped and jobs re-hired.  Unless OPEC is willing to push the glut until their reserves run dry it has to end sometime...and seeing them flounder in the desert to die when the black gold runs out isn't exactly a disincentive to dare them to keep it up, is it?

Well the result is Russia is now actively involved in Syria , so I suspect someone played their cards right.

It actually broke under $2.00/gal for about a week before it started creeping back up. We're back to around $2.25/gal again.

They're going to force a 15% mixture on us.  A mixture most cars can't handle.

Ethanol bad juju for engines.  One chainsaw is in the shop; Gunsmith got the other working with E-free gas in it.  I worry about our truck engines.

Later model trucks are not problem. But you better make sure you have the correct E-15 gas lines on the ol' 55.

How it coming, anyway?

It's done.  We've been so busy this year, we haven't even taken it out for a drive.  We'll be putting the E-free gas in it as well.

Do you also have to do the lead additive?
