1521 Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan was killed in the Philippines.
1972 Apollo 16 returned to Earth after a manned voyage to the moon.
I imagine the thoughts of those traveling into the unknown with Magellan weren't all that different from those rushing towards the moon inside a rocket. What the lib will never understand is that while some people can be subdued, the desire to be free and go beyond one's self and seek what is greater and unknown resides in man's soul and will not be killed.

We got sidetracked by problems at home since Apollo ended...I thought we'd be on Mars by now...

In it's day I think a lot of us thought that. Too many people don't understand the value of exploring and challenging the unknown.

It's still fun to teach a thing or two to my young nephews...it's enjoyable to see the fire of discovery on their faces...it doesn't even have to be anything major, just going out for a short walk or something and pointing out something interesting you see, like a bird gathering dried grass.

That's a most precious thing not to be taken for granted...
UNFORTUNATELY, adults do a bang up job of destroying that esp those in the public education system.

I can't argue that! It's sad that family has to expend so much time just on damage control. The Unionistas and feckless bureaucrats predominating our schools are not our friends.
