I was actually wondering about the risk of that happening when I first heard the Navy was dispatching ships to aid. I hope personnel are equipped with appropriate anti-rad gear for future trips ashore.

They aren't disclosing a whole lot about radiological zones, probably to keep the folks back home from freaking out, but I am sure anyone near a possible contaminated zone would at least be wearing radiation badges as a precaution. And since most domestic supplies of potassium iodide have disappeared, I hope the military got a good stash of that to pass out to troopers as a precautionary measure as well. I have no reason to doubt either measure has been overlooked.
