I read last night that the Army is doing away with the black berets and going back to a simpler and more practical cap.

Yeah, the beret didn't go over well with the troops.

I thought making the black beret the standard issue cover was a dumb idea . It cheapened an article of headgear which had previously been a badge of achievement . But I also hated the uniform changes of the late 1960s and thought we should have gone back to the old style O.D. uniform including the Ike Jacket which was comfortable , looked good , and everybody loved . I was never able to find out who the hell suggested some of these stupid uniform changes . They didn't come from the troops !
