I've heard esophageal cancer is a particularly horrible way to go.
'Family Feud' TV host, Hogan's Heroes actor Richard Dawson has died (http://search.yahoo.com/search?cs=bz&p=Richard%20Dawson&fr=fp-tts-701-r21&fr2=ps)
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Richard Dawson, the wisecracking British entertainer who was among the schemers in the 1960s sitcom "Hogan's Heroes" and a decade later began kissing thousands of female contestants as host of the game show "Family Feud" has died. He was 79.
[Dawson] died Saturday night from complications related to esophageal cancer at Ronald Reagan Memorial hospital, his son Gary said.

Part of my childhood was watching (much to the dismay of my father who hated the 1960's sitcoms) "Hogan's Heroes." I liked Larry Hovis the best of the lot for his general state of confusion and ineptness combined with a flair for explosive ordnance.
Dawson's real name was Colin Lionel Emm (why is it that entertainers so frequently reject their given names?) and he is said to have introduced Bob Crane to his eventual murderer. Funny how things work out.

I wasn't as enamoured with the cast per se as I was with the general cleverness of outwitting the Krauts, but I guess a young kid growing up likes such cleverness.
RIP Colin.

They've all pretty much passed on. John Banner was the first to go, right after the series ended. :'(
The Great show of my childhood, and now one more passed. RIP.
