Title: Friday the 13th
Post by: Libertas on October 13, 2017, 12:34:47 PM
Heck, 13 is probably my "lucky number".

Sure, a despot frog by the name of Phillip IV added a lot of blood to the date by slaughtering and arresting a bunch of Templars in 1307 in order to get out of paying his massive debts (https://infogalactic.com/info/Knights_Templar), but we shouldn't let that fricken dandy or any other a-hole from ruining a perfectly good number/day!

Besides, poor Phillip died 7 years later and never got any plumb spoils from the Templar's...their fleet sailed from La Rochelle never to be seen again (though sightings off Portugal [fleet] and Scotland [a few ships] are documented)...Phillip dying in a hunting accident ("God knows who is wrong and has sinned. Soon a calamity will occur to those who have condemned us to death"-Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master, before being burned at the stake by Phillip) and puppet Pope Clement kicking just a month later!

And, in 1775 the US Navy was born.   ::USA::

It's a good day!
