Title: Another returns home.
Post by: AlanS on December 08, 2017, 01:46:32 PM
Just got the email today for the Patriot Guard Riders mission for this soldier. We're to meet the plane at the airport in Lafayette and escort him back to his hometown. I'm sure it's going to be pretty chilly, but I'll still be there with my flags flying on my scooter. ::USA::

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, recently accounted-for from the Korean War, are being returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

Army Sgt. Kermit J. Lejeune, 23, of Church Point, Louisiana, will be buried December 14 in his hometown. In late November 1950, Lejeune was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, engaged in combat operations against the Chinese People’s Volunteer Forces (CPVF) in the vicinity of Unsan County, North Pyongan County, North Korea. Lejeune was reported missing in action on Nov. 28, 1950. Several returned American POWs reported that Lejeune had in fact been captured and died in a North Korean POW camp in February or March 1951.

So many of our great veterans are passing into history. The WWII generation is almost gone. Korean War generation will be next... then all we'll have left are those who served with the scorn of the Left heaped upon their backs. God, how I hate the Left.

Have to edit. Riding to the airport in New Orleans. Going to be a real test for me. 320 mi round trip, in the cold, on my scooter. But I'm sure Sgt. Lejeune's family wishes he could be freezing his butt off today. ::praying::

So my New Orleans day trip was a success for both the bike and me. Roughly 320 mi round trip. Made it home with both of us in one piece.

Here we are meeting in Lafayette. The photog got my best side. My back.

At the air port. The hearse is the only black car in the group. My FXR is the only one that isn't a tour bike.

Lost one bike on the way over there. Dipstick was told last week he had a bald tire on the front. Well, it decided to blow out 3 miles from our exit.

No serious injuries, luckily for him and his ol' lady. Had 4 bikes stay behind with him. They caught us on the return trip.

Local news story.

The deputy if front of us had no problem letting the hammer down coming home. It's pretty awesome when you're doing 70, the speed limit's 60, and you've got red/blue lights in front of you to clear the way. ::cool::

Awesome, great pics.   ::USA::

Sucks putting a bike down, only did that once...ok twice...one was off-road though and neither serious at all...but knowing you have a bad tire and facing a long trip? Dude?!

Glad everyone is safe!
