Puerto Rico Statehood?
« on: January 02, 2017, 11:30:02 AM »
https://www.yahoo.com/news/puerto-ricos-gov-seeks-statehood-referendum-amid-crisis-135123882.html

Besides 51 being an odd number...there are probably more reasons against than for...this side of the ocean...

The Gov needs to implement cuts and root out corruption instead of enlarging the bureaucracy...privatizing is good too, just don't be so limited in promoting it...half measures are still half measures and failing slower is still failing...

Back to the drawing board pal.

They think they can get the Iowa taxpayers to bail out their failing government worker pension system if they become a state.

Not gonna happen.

Yup,  every state wants to be bailed out.   So no go on that.   Every state is bankrupt if they were forced to do accounting like the private sector.

In the past they refused statehood, as there were more benefits NOT being a state.   Being a state wouldn't change anything for the better, even now.

Wait a sec...has California gone tits up yet?

California receives more government aid than any state in the union...like $340M and on average makes up about 25% of its annual "revenue".  Plus, "emergency loans" it's received from the Fed's are bailouts in all but name...and the Obamunist helicopter drops to cronies also included states in crap like Porkulus, Son of Porkulus, ARRA remember that?  Y'all saw the roadsigns extolling the virtue of freshly laid Obamunism?

And once again the California pension time bomb is about to go off...and with fiscally retarded Puerto Rico statehood being tossed about all the Pubbies can do is pass a fricken bill they think will end all the shenannigans if it can be made a law!

I say no to Puerto Rico and no to California...and as to the latter I say we give Calexit/Caleavefornia/Califrexit secession a chance...or as I already proffered in the quake thread a quick sale to Mexico before it all slides into the Pacific!

 ::mooning::

ETA - Oh yeah...and libiot bastions inside red states like Dallas and Austin can go fornicate themselves!
