President Donald Trump has officially appointed John Bolton as his new national security advisor, replacing H.R. McMaster.

Trump tweeted the news that he was ousting McMaster on Thursday evening, explaining that Bolton would be taking the
role effective April 9, 2018.

“I am pleased to announce that, effective 4/9/18, @AmbJohnBolton will be my new National Security Advisor,”
Trump said. “I am very thankful for the service of General H.R. McMaster who has done an outstanding job & will
always remain my friend. There will be an official contact handover on 4/9.”

I like John Bolton, well, what I know of him anyway.  Please, somebody tell me he isn't a McCain-style warmonger.

Great choice. I'm a Bolton fan (as much as anyone can be a fan of a "public servant")

I don't perceive him as a warmonger - but he's certainly an up-front, no-nonsense dude.

Bolton's a good choice,  I think.  He reminds me a bit of a male version of Jean Kirkpatrick,  who,  in speaking her mind,  usually rubbed the left the wrong way,  but that's a resume enhancer in my book. 

He's certainly light years ahead of the puss he's replacing.  I wonder if it was McMasters who leaked that Trump called Putin to congratulate him?  That's about his speed.  ::puke::

Think you are right there, McMasters probably wrote the damn note anyway.  I feel iffy about Flag Officers still around who survived Oblama.
The good thing with about dealing with McMasters he's still active, so Trump just reassigned him to a cold desk at the Pentagon until he retires
later this year.

I think McMasters was the leak and that Bolton can do the job and not embarrass or backstab his boss.
