Hello.
I discovered this site via a link on the blog SmallDeadAnimals, and seeing it self-described as "A Conservative Forum", I thought that's a part of the U.S.A. I'll probably enjoy visiting.
I'm a self-employed tradesman in a small (and getting too big) city in Western Canada.

Well, come on in then and get comfortable.
-
Another Canadian, eh? Cool!
-
Welcome, eh!
;)
-
Canucks fan? Fired your caoches today.
-
Welcome Tooner. Are you from the part of Canada where you can get a pizza to your house faster than an ambulance? ::saywhat::
-
I think that makes 2 Canucks, now right? Welcome to the forum Tooner.
-
Welcome, crack a cold one and sit a spell, eh.
::thumbsup::

Welcome to da club!
-
Welcome.
-
Fresh meat!
I always find it interesting how people find these smaller forums.

That's what I was thinking.
*sigh*
Why do they take the time and trouble to register, make an introductory post, and then not participate?

If you figure out that one, let me know.

Some sites are openly hostile to new posters. Places like FreeRepublic refer to you as "newbie" for years. They'll challenge you even when you post a sycophantic "me too" at places like DU or huffpo. I have to laugh at the absurdity of providing your bona fides as an anonymous poster on some internet website but there are those who take it very seriously.
There was one site I registered at about two years ago that looked promising at first. I made a couple of perfunctory posts and even pointed it out to one of the IAL crew. But the second glance showed too many mouth-breathers and too much drama so I abandoned the joint.
I don't know what the ratio of new recruits to enduring members is here, but I have to say that we attract quality people. The fact that they tolerate me proves my case ;-)

Welcome aboard.

I like new members. I really do. I leave breadcrumbs all over the place and when one of those leads ends up bringing in a new member I give thanks.
But...
I have to admit that I do get a bit irritated when someone shows up, goes to the trouble of posting an intro and then...nothing.
Which is why I don't get too excited about noobs until they have shown some staying power. It's too bad that I have that attitude but after this much time watching this cycle repeat and repeat and repeat...
...well...*yawn*...what was I talking about? Sorry. Losing focus and losing interest.
Must.
Stay.
Awake...

Another recent noob that showed up, made some good posts and then vanished was kozanne.
I knew her from another forum
-
Dayum. Are we that boring? Or that radical?
-
I doubt we are boring.
And we don't bite heads off...unless bitten first...or very annoyed. Newbies doing a one and done might qualify for the latter...
-
We don't fight with each other a lot like some places.
We're probably just too civil with each other
-
One would think they spend a little time reading, looking around, before they sign up.

Have you lost your sense of adventure?

The great white north eh ?
Welcome to the forum from a even newer noob. I hope your stay on the forum is long and prosperous.
