I find this interesting as an alternative for dry goods.

That is way cool!
My main concern with tin is life span with lots of humidity since I live in the deep south.

Sounds like you rent/borrow the canning device? Is that what I'm hearing?

Yes but you can buy one but at 1200 bucks it's a little over the top unless you got together with others and share the expense and the machine it could work nicely.

Or you get it where the people in the video got it. LDS. Sorry to tell ya, but right now they are the largest, best organized Christian-based survival clan.

That's great if you have one near you.

the regular Mormon church? or some outshoot?
-
Yeah, the regular Mormon Church. Just search for "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" on google maps, there is probably a Ward near you.
The Mormons want all members to stock 1 year of food, and most Dry-Freeze Long term food companies are run by Mormons, and the church runs its own. The Church also runs a massive food pantry organization, and they can and do make supplies and tools - like this canning machine - available to members. So if you cultivate a Mormon family as friends, you will find most of those church resources will be made available to you as well.
( I have more to say on the topic of Mormons, but rather than thread-jack, I will start another thread elsewhere)
