Title: For now at least, Scott Brown appears unbeatable
Post by: IronDioPriest on March 31, 2011, 12:15:10 PM
Brown is a liberal Republican, without a doubt. But he's held the line on a few key conservative issues. So far he's demonstrated that he's beholden to the people of Massachusetts before the GOP, and that he's not the Democrats' b*tch in GOP clothing. I think he's the best conservatives can hope for in Massachusetts, which makes him worthy of at least tacit support in my view.

Scott Brown, The unbeatable Republican? (http://www.salon.com/news/scott_brown/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2011/03/31/scott_brown_2012_poll)

Massachusetts is a deeply Democratic state, one in which barely more than 15 percent of the seats in the state Legislature are held by Republicans and fewer than 15 percent of all registered voters belong to the GOP. So it's hardly surprising that national Democrats have been making noise about defeating the state's Republican senator, Scott Brown, when he stands for reelection next year.

"It's a priority for us," Guy Cecil, the executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, told the Boston Globe when he made a two-day trip to the Bay State earlier this month.

But the DSCC received some bad news this week when a poll it commissioned found that Brown's popularity is soaring. The survey, which has been seen by at least one D.C. insider and was detailed for Salon, measured Brown's approval rating at 73 percent -- easily surpassing the scores for Barack Obama and the state's two top Democrats,  Gov. Deval Patrick and Sen. John Kerry. It also found him running over the magic 50 percent mark against every potential Democratic challenger, and crushing the strongest perceived Democrats (Reps. Michael Capuano and Ed Markey and former Rep. Marty Meehan) by double-digit margins. The results only grew closer when respondents were primed with negative information about Brown....

He's the best we've gotten from Massachusetts.  The Kennedy Seat, goodness gracious, keep Scott Brown in office.

... waiting to see Cornyn donate NRSC money  to his opponent in the primary

Now if Brown could help dump Kerry and give us another Brown like senator it would be something to behold.

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown — an upstart Blue State Republican in the cross hairs of national Democrats — is lashing out at the party’s opposition researchers, accusing them of prying into his family’s private health insurance records, and demanding that they stop fighting dirty.

“It seems in bad form. Obviously, when it comes to information about my wife and daughters, it crosses the line. I find it offensive and so do they,” Brown told the Herald yesterday.

“They (Democrats) don’t have any business muddling in the private health records of my family,” said Brown, adding that his family is “disturbed” by the intrusion.

Officials from the Group Insurance Commission, the state’s health insurance provider, notified Brown on Tuesday that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee asked them “to provide insurance information,” according to a copy of the GIC letter obtained by the Herald.

The GIC, a quasi-independent state agency, administers health insurance for state employees and their families. Brown’s wife, Gail Huff, and two daughters, Ayla and Arianna, were also on his state insurance plan when he was a Wrentham state senator.

A copy of the DSCC request provided to the Herald asks for “all direct correspondence” between Brown and the GIC under the Massachusetts public records law.

A DSCC spokesman insisted the request was only for public information and never sought private medical information about the Brown family.

“Obviously, the commission has made a mistake. Now Brown is trying score cheap political points to distract from his record, voting in lock step with Republicans in Washington, D.C.,” said spokesman Matt Canter.

...

GIC officials could not be reached for comment, but a letter sent by the agency to Brown’s lawyer Tuesday warns “some or all of the material requested may constitute ‘personal data.’ ”

They'll do ANYTHING, and sometimes they get caught. Busting into Palin's email, publishing West's SS#, getting a judge to order publication of Ryan's divorce records, threatening Wisconsin senators with death, now this. Only question is whether they'll do any time. Most times they just go "Oops" and point the finger at their opposition, as this shameless puke does here. Such evil, craven, pathetic behavior. He doesn't deserve the oxygen provided him by the good Lord.

As long as they stay out of Watergate it's all good.

Forever, apparently. It seems like that's how long they've been getting away with it.
