Title: 3D printing
Post by: Weisshaupt on July 12, 2017, 11:54:19 AM
Okay,  they finally got me. Got a coupon code ( make15)  that landed me this little baby for $250.

Its "entry" level for sure, and  a lot of the comments tell you that its great- IF you mod it the way they tell you to.  So, I will, and probably learn how to use the printer in the process because of course the mods involve you printing out new parts for the printer itself.  Sort of like that guitar I ordered from them-  its great but it had one buzzing fret and needed minor filing to be perfect.

Monoprice should also be your first stop for any A/V cable or TV mount.  They are even selling a pretty good Audiophile grade amplifier now - waiting for a Pre-amp offering..

I can't say I have any specific use in mind for the 3d Printer.. , just wanted one for a while now, and  occasionally there is some plastic junk part that breaks and I think, if I could only just print up another one and re-enforce it with wire inside.. and now I'll be able to .

Will it make implements useful in eradicating those pesky statist pests?

Only if you can make them out of plastic.

Actually it looks like you can get a metal printing head for this one.. its based on aon open source plan, so I guess I am not surprised.

Just a helpful hint - find someplace away from people to run the thing. The noise and the smell will drive you batty.

Sounds like experience talking.

I need someplace I can level it and it won't be bumped.. You can stick an SD in it and have it print from that so I think in the cellar will be just fine....
