Even if they don't replace these objects of art with things to these groups, they will still likely be ugly modern crap instead of beautiful classical art.
Least they aren't being destroyed. They can be put back when society decides to be sane again.

Somebody with the means should acquire them, put them in a Museum of Southern Culture...and then in the interpretive narration include a blurb in there about how so-called liberal-minded people closed their minds off and led to the need for this history to be preserved.
