"and Ranking Member John Conyers (D.-Mich.)"

John Conyers!  Is this a misprint?  This is either fishy or there's more than smoke in the woodpile.

That caught me as well.  Perhaps it means ranking member of the other party, not the majority.

Yeah, and agreeing with a Republican about Kagan.  Conyers is a member in good standing with the CBC.

Something's up.

Yup I got a whiff down here too.If she gets impeached that puts in another Socialist to take her place. If she stays till after the case comes before SCOTUS but is forced to recuse that cripples them right there and then. I would rather she recused for this and impeach her later. It's like holding a vote and nobody cares what Kenedy does!!

Two other interesting email chains occurred on May 17, 2010, a week after President Obama had nominated Kagan to the Supreme Court, and on June 15, 2010, two weeks before Kagan’s confirmation hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

At 1:03 p.m. on May 17, 2010, Justice Department Spokesperson Tracy Schmaler sent an email to Kagan’s top deputy Katyal on which the subject line said: “HCR litigation.”

“Has Elena been involved in any of that to the extent SG office was consulted?” Schmaler asked Katyal in the email. “Know you have been point but expect I’ll get this q.”

Only a minute later, Katyal emailed back. “No, she never has been involved in any of it,” he said. “I’ve run it for the Office, and have never discussed the issues with her one bit.”

Great Googly-Moogly! Haven't any of these pinheads read about "email is forever"?!!!!

It all comes back a failure, John McCain who should have never been chosen to run against a Marxist POS if he was unwilling to call him out on his history of affiliations. The primary GOP process failed Americ in the worst way. ::puke::

The weenies in Congress refuse to do their sworn duty and refuse to keep their promises to their respective constituencies.

Essentially we're left with little choice of peaceful and constitutional means at our disposal. ::gaah::

The primary GOP process failed Americ in the worst way.

The way I see it, open primaries are the main reason the Repubs got stuck with McCain.  And in some states, you can declare your party at the polling station to get either a Democrat or Republican primary ballot.  That allows the other party to pick your candidate.  I'm all for closed primaries, where you can vote only if you're registered in a party for, say, a year (in New York, you can change party registration before primaries, but the change does not take place until after the election; I know as I found that out the hard way).  Closed primaries eliminate the Independents from voting in the two major parties' primaries, again as I found out when I first moved to New York (as a registered Independent, I could not vote in either major parties' primary), but I think that's a good thing.  When it comes to party affiliation, make a freakin' decision!  And of course, a Nazi disenfranchisement Jim Crow Voter ID law wouldn't hurt, either, along ceasing same day voter registration; if you can't take the time to register a month before an election so the registration can be verified for accuracy, so sorry, no vote for you.  Voting may be a right, but it also comes with responsibilities.  Oh wait, . . .

We sort of got stuck here.  Until recently, the county had no viable Republican presence, so the best thing was to register Unaffiliated (Independent), figure out the least worst Democrat and vote for him otherwise we had no vote for Commissioners.

The open primaries could definitely be a problem for the upcoming election, because the Democrats will have no primary of their own so there's very little disincentive for them to meddle in ours.
