I am beyond sick of this bizarre December. It has been 75 degrees the entire month. The Christmas forecast is nearly 80 degrees. This is just freakish weather, and I do not like it.
Where the hell is the cold air? At this point it looks like there is literally going to be no winter at all.

HA! I took your winter. Its MINE. ALL MINE. You can't have it back.
We broke records for snowfall today. Its hard to say how much because some areas are bare and others are 3 foot drifts. Maybe a foot? Yaks don't seem to care. Broke up the ice on the waterers and waded out to get more firewood and throw them a bail of hay. I had one chicken go rogue and was cowering over by abandoned COOP attempt #1 in the snow. Took her back to the hoop house with the others and told her not to wander in blizzards. Stupid thing. Trying to freeze to death .
-
It's been relatively mild in MN too. Last year it was arctic blast from mid-November on. This year, we had one snow a couple weeks ago that mostly melted, and it's been in the 30s and 40s since. We are supposed to be cooling down later this week though.

Glowball warmink! El nino!
Good grief, G; we've been here 21 years and never have gotten winter -- if we get it -- until January.
-
I am not complaining one bit.
I'll take a white Christmas...I'll even take whatever the Arctic than throw at us temperature wise...as long as I don't have white stuff fouling up my commute...I am just not going to complain.
:D
As to the question...I dunno, the Grinch took it! ::hysterical::

A biga** storm in the middle of the country, pushing warm air up in the east, and cold air down in the west.
If this is my last real winter for awhile, I'm just fine with it being delayed. I see it as bonus fall.

Minus teens in Northern Arizona, this morning. Winter is in America. Just not this far east.

It's true that we don't exactly have severe winters in NC, not by a long stretch, but this is extreme even for here. Even NYC is supposed to be in the mid 60s on Christmas day.
I can remember some mild Christmases, but I don't think I can ever remember it pushing 80 degrees. I'll be in the mountains, and it's going to be 60 even there. Normally the winters there are more like the Great Lakes region due to the high elevation.
Perhaps it's merely my nature to rage against things I have no control over ::viking::
-
It can stay like this until March and then get nice
-
I don't care for the cold weather...so as long as it wants to stay relatively warm here in Tennessee is good by me. I fish all year, so id rather be warm.
Sidenote. Bought a pair of the battery powered insoles for boots, keep the feet nice and toasty.
-
I simply cannot feel festive about 75 degrees on Christmas Day. There's no Christmas this year AFAIAC. At this point it doesn't look like there's going to be a winter at all. I've never seen such a rigid weather pattern in late December.

It beginning to sound as if there are converts to global warming....lol
Our weather in Tennessee has been slightly warmer than usual but we normally have moderate Decembers. It's gonna rain here for days. We will have our 3 weeks of cold and then spring.
-
It's the sun I tell ya!
One day we will return to Hoth-like weather.
Patient you must be, relax you much!

The west has been getting winter, good and hard.

LOL, nah. It's no global warming. In fact I read an article today where NASA is complaining that the aerosols from burning fossil fuels causes cooling. Pretty soon they'll just drop all pretense and stick a gun in our faces and demand your property and liberty, "or else."
But I am trying to remember a time when we simply had no cold air at all, this late into December.
-
It's just the East Coast though.
Y'all got that Gulf Stream thing...what is that sucker up to, eh?
-
It's up to the 60s here, north of Pittsburgh.
And balmy for most of the next 10 days.
A day closer to spring!

One thing is certain, the weather, cold weather, usually benefits the home team ballet dancers in the NFL but I doubt it will this time around. The home teams will have to depend on the usual bad calls from the referees to offset the mild weather. ::hysterical::

Steelers are looking pretty tough right now.
See if they can sweep the Bengals Sunday
-
Bengals been skidding in offensive production since losing their QB, too bad, they had a nice season going.
-
The Minne Vikes are half decent this year, aren't they?
-
Half.
Can't beat GB, yet. Can't beat Seattle, can't beat Arizona, can't beat Denver.
They are at best, a year away. They might make the playoffs this year, but they won't go far.
Oh, and in case Glock wants to know...winter is the F here! I have globalwarmink falling from the sky all damn day long! It will be a long slog home!

Poured rain here this morning, with thunder. Old Wives Tale/Farmer's Almanac says thunder in winter means snow in/within ten days.

Yeah my Panthers are in hot water with the PC Police for, allegedly, using "homophobic" remarks towards Odell Beckham in that game against the Giants. Among the things said, they were apparently calling him a ballerina during the pre-game warm ups. Rush even talked about it the other day, dubbing them the Carolina Homophobes.
I kind of like that they're developing a reputation for embarrassing prima donna wide receivers.
-
We get to face that prima ballerina on the super fantastic flexed Sunday night game.
Can't believe they overturned that nutbar's suspension, but in ObamAmerica psycho prima ballerina's generate higher hype value and hence more TV ad dollars for struggling millionaires and billionaires.
If I were CB Xavier Rhodes & crew I would fire up the ballerina talk during warmups and not let up. Heck, if it's drama they want, give it to 'em. The NFL is obviously wanting it.
"Integrity of the game"! Ha!

Oh btw Libertas, Twinkletoes' suspension was upheld. That report about it being overturned was itself overturned later. So your Vikings get the Giants minus one ballerina in their Nutcracker Suite.
I hope the Vikings win, because that will help drive the final nails into the Atlanta Falcons' coffin, and that makes me smile.

Shocking, since when did the NFL pretend to have principles? I won't beat Jaws up to hard on that one, NFL did the blind squirrel routine...
Atlanta is so overrated, I had them pegged as the pretender in the undefeated ranks when we had those 7-8 teams that started hot. For a while I thought Carolina might be a bit lucky too but beating Seattle kinda dispelled that.

Some rather nasty weather out there...
https://gma.yahoo.com/least-8-dead-tornadoes-severe-storms-near-dallas-121756498--abc-news-topstories.html
It's not good when folks get killed, suspect this is the usual mix of short warnings, not paying attention and being in the wrong spot...
We have a nasty blow starting here this afternoon, might result in a snow day tomorrow if it is ugly enough. Winter storm warning from 3pm today to 6pm tomorrow. It was 0 last night and not much better this am.
Looks like Mississippi & Alabama still have tornado watches and there are flood warnings from OK to NC/VA and from MI/AL up to IL.
-
Coming in the far days of the extended outlook. Below zero in Crapholesota is on its way.
-
I got me some winter today.
Not much snow but temps headed way down for a couple days.
Forecast of 6 for tonight.
It's about 16 right now.
Brrr!
Take it back!

Supposed to be 14 on Sunday when the Seahags roll into town...which is still 34 degrees warmer than I would like for that contest.
After they leave town though, it can warm up again. :D

I don't think playing in cold weather is an advantage for the Vikings anymore. That was a mental toughness thing in the Bud Grant era. He had his team and the entire league convinced that cold weather was advatage: Vikings. But that was a leader, leading grown men.
Now we have diversity-trained pussified coaches and entitled little-boy brat millionaire athletes. None of them have the capacity to build the mystique required to do what Bud Grant and his men did. Hell, if a Vikings coach tried to make players play in the cold without propane heaters on the sidelines like Grant did as a demonstration of the mystique, the coach would be labeled an abuser and a racist.

True enough.
Still, I long for a brutal outdoor game...just for the sake of nostalgia...
The hot house plants will be in their new Palace of Plastic next year. Like their namesakes...they are a far cry from their ancestors...

Not a fan of domes. Part of the mythology of football was the idea that the game was played, no matter what. Pouring rain, driving snow, or sweltering heat, the game is played. Those conditions are an X factor for both teams and helped separate winners from losers.
But the domes aren't for the players. They're for the wine and cheese crowd that now constitute the bulk of season ticket holders across the league.

Well, Glock, winter is here, finally.

Yes, and I hope it stays. It helps kill back the fire ants and other nasties.

It was snowing here in NC this morning. Not sticking, mind you, but snowing nevertheless.

It's here.

Yah, no shyte. It's not supposed to get out of the thirties all day today.

Even in my retirement destination the forecast is for a high of 53 on Sunday and a low of 45. As the coldest ever is 40, no one has heat. So much for global warming.

Yeah, but Climate Change never goes out of style when it comes to pimping that fear-mongering tripe!

It's been fairly cool here this week north of Pittsburgh with lows in the low single digits and highs in the low to mid teens.
I realize that's nothing for you hardy upper Midwesterners.
But, I'm turning into a wimp in my old age
-
I don't like the cold so much anymore either AP. It is what it is.
-
They're going to get it in Asia. Snow far enough south in Japan that it will cover palm trees. 0 in Seoul. Snow on a mountain north of Taipei (Imagine a 3000 foot mountain near Miami...it's be like that). Taipei itself only in the low 40s for a high...again, imagine Miami being that cold. Coldest in 10 years, they're saying.
Here was nothing. I don't think we broke -15. It takes -25 in the Twin Cities before I'm impressed.

Me too. I run 3-4 times/week. Previously my temperature "line-in-the-sand" was 18 degrees (3 layers of Under Armour, gloves & a hat will handle that). Any colder & I revert to a Nordic Track workout in my basement gym instead.
But this year I knuckled under just a little more...
...& raised the line to 19 degrees! ;D

When I was younger, this was nothing.
Would walk the dog in shorts and tee shirt.
That dog is no longer around and neither is the idiot who would do that

Hah! Too true.
Two weeks ago I was out doing errands on a 22 degree morning and saw a guy strolling down the street in shorts. I was gonna yell at him "Don't you have the sense God gave a gnat?!" when I remembered - no he doesn't :D
-
I lied. Coldest in a generation. Snow near Okinawa. Sleet in the mountains above downtown Hong Kong. 40s for high from Hanoi to Hong Kong (at sea level) to southern Taiwan. The resorts of far southern South Korea snowed in. A lot of all time records falling.

Well...we had our 11" of snow here in Middle Tennessee....where 2" closes roads, schools and Kroger runs out of food. We couldn't get out of our driveway for two days and when we did, our little backroad had up to 3 feet in places where the wind blows up piles of it.
Finally out, we will be in the upper 40's today...back to our normal weather pattern.
-
OK, even I had to admit -4 coming in was a bit nippy!
On the plus side...lake ice should thicken pretty quick now, especially with no snow cover.

While I haven't heard anything...often these totally unexpected winter cold snaps that catch climate cultists by surprise each and every time are accompanied by an AlGore sighting...
-
Been warmer than normal here since November. That's when the Siberian air decided to go through Alaska and down into the US, instead of straight south.
Sucks for you. ::evilbat::

Supposed to get to -19 here tonight. Good thing I have Yaks. Ironically, the bugout at 9000 feet will be only around -3.

Been plenty of winter here in the Chicago area. I hate winter.
