Anybody remotely familiar with aviation knows Bob Hoover.  I think the thing I like best is the will, determination and bold intelligence and guts to escape a German POW camp, swipe a plane and escape to freedom!  That alone is worthy of high praise!  He did that and more.

R.I.P. Bob.
