That seems an oxymoron, but with so many morons about today it probably wouldn't be noticed now...

Explains why "God" had to be added later... Christian Minister my ass!

I'll confess.
I no longer recite the pledge.

I've gotten off the nationalist jingoism.
I  don't believe in what we've become.

Libertas - talking about an oxymoron.  Am reading the book "Brute" by Robert Coram.  It's the life story of U.S. Marine 3 star General Victor Krulak.  In the 1930's as a young LT. stationed in China as the aide of General Smith he watched the Japanese invade the beachheads.   Their techniques using landing craft and the assault itself.  Prior to WWII he was instrumental in the U.S. design of our landing craft patterned after theirs and tactics of our Marine assaults against the Japanese during in the Pacific during WWII, using their own ideas and tactics, against them.  The landing craft [Higgins boats]was the flat drop down bow of the LST's used not only in the 30+ assault campaigns in the Pacific, but also D-Day.

Coram authored the book on John Boyd I really liked.  And I note that Krulak's funeral was at the Mirimar chapel which I know from my stay there when the Navy held the base.  And Krulak wanted to bomb the North Vietnamese back into the Stone Age...but of course that candyass LBJ rejected that idea and went with Westmoreland's doomed-to-failure plan whose central tenant was thinking he could defeat them conventionally.

There is another story in the book that I haven't gotten to yet, just saw a photo, where he and LBJ are tolking in the Oval Office.  He's pointing his finger at LBJ, and the expression on LBJ's face is priceless.  The caption below says after that 'meeting'; " LBJ stood up,put his hand in the small of Krulak's back, and pushed the general from the Oval Office."

That must have been when he told Johnson Westmoreland's idea is stupid and the only intelligent answer is to crush them from head to toe.

Since Westmoreland was advocating Johnson's idea it would be telling the President his idea is stupid as hell.

Sucks to be right.  Hal Moore told them it was stupid to think the Communists were going to be easy to root out.  They, McNamara...none of them listened for sh*t, and 55k body bags later they probably still thought they were right.  Hubris, vanity...delusion...they had it all in spades.

War isn't a dance in the school gym, it isn't orderly, structured and pleasant...it is death, dying, blood, screaming and breaking the hell out of everything...the one who inflicts the most damage and suffers the least usually wins...and the only way to win is to employ all your assets and hold nothing back.

Loathing stupid people never wanes.
