A nice little rundown on the perils of economic foolishness...but obviously the biggest omission is the moral, ethical and societal rot that was a major contributor impelling the economic foolishness.  Something which we can relate to now days, yes?

Rising cost of government...fiat debasement...creative finance...?

Check, check and check.

And where the Romans had centuries to fall, we only have decades...and there are precious few of those left...if any...
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.
