I think it is too late, too far gone to return to any kind of federalism as the Founders intended.

Even proponents acknowledge the extremism of the Left just increases exponentially.  The perfidious disease of progressive ideology so corrupted with ComIntern socialism and genocidal fascism...it is ridiculous to see ever increasing un-conservative candidates be elevated to ever-increasing reincarnations of Adolph Hitler.  The Left keeps getting more rabid and intransigent and psychotic.  No person who is sane thinks there can be any hope of cohabitation with this ilk.  The proponents of a Federalist Rennaisance also acknowledge this increasing awareness of the futility of intelligently engaging the Left.  Ignore the courts...most do anyway...there is no peaceful differing ways...there is only the next iteration of the war.  Words like "maybe", "if" and "time" hold little hope in them when applied to this final existential conflict.

The betrayals from within and without...but mostly within...are just to oppressing to ignore.

The dirt people are not forgetting, not forgiving...and they certainly are not stupid or eternally patient!

For more than one reason.

Yeah, I kinda hope this doesn't happen.  Deep State would respond to such an action with Chemical or biological attacks, because they would know the game is up and full on war is at hand, and wouldn't they like to take out 1 million patriots in one blow? I think its far more likely that more people just start to tune out and start prepping, deciding like most of us that our local world is all we care about, and that we will defend it with arms WHEN the time comes.  Venezuela continues to be mostly likely form of our  destroyer - and until the currency collapses, people have too much to loose to engage in open rebellion.  But even if an interested minority did march, it would only be the event that starts the war, and probably not a successful coup that ends it. One way or another this ends up neighbor vs neighbor, rural vs. city because of ideological differences.   The deep state treatment of Trump is waking a lot of people up to the fact that there IS a deep state, and it is completely unaccountable to the people. This bothers conservatives for obvious reasons, and it bothers liberals because they realize that they aren't part of the exclusive club they thought they were putting into power-- they are little people. Democracy is only important to liberals because they think their participation in it gives them collective ownership of others... and without that illusion they realize that they are one of the owned. If this continues  over the next few years, you will see the leftists turn against the current  big corporate fascist Deep State ( that they lovingly nurtured,  voted for and accepted )  and declare now its time for a socialist revolution- Single Payer for All!  Guaranteed Incomes! Power to the people! I doubt the Democrats will retain control of their party any more than the GOP will.

Meanwhile, tick tock...

I suspect as things decline you will see a prevalent shadow economy emerge based on Bit Coin or some other currency that the government cannot seize easily ( there will be a huge business opportunity here) and  More and more people will just hedge against the coming collapse.   There could be a tax strike by some, and a million people participating in that would be noticeable, but probably not dramatic - causing a 25%  or so increase in private sector turnover as people  quit jobs as the government seized their wages.. But why do a principled Ayn Randian tax strike, when you can become a negative load on the system and collect welfare - and at no real risk to you other than perhaps a lower standard of living..( or not depending on the current state of the growing shadow economy..) ?

But as long as the Tee-Vee stays on and Cheetos are cheap at the 7-11,  you won't be seeing armed marches, or real riots ( paid for Soros-funded riots will continue of course) Most people will plod on as long as plodding is possible, just as they did in Venezuela. As Polyanna Hoyt said- "the middle class in Venezuela  is still doing fine. Nothing is that bad. It will all turn out alright.."  So we should all plan for that situation.. and expect a long, slow , plodding, steady decline over the next decade. Yes a sudden collapse is possible, but the powers that be will do everything they can to avoid it

I suspect secessionist movements will simply  become more prevalent and stronger as things get worse... as either the city or the country rebel at whichever side is in power and eventually they will be successful and dividing  or open conflict will ensue.
Unlike Venezuela we have fully functional and separate   secondary governments to fall back on, and if individual States fail, less robust County and city governments. I think we  will see real City States again, with no legal authority outside of their small geography .. and they will collapse on themselves quickly because they will have unfettered socialist polices.  Ideologically, we have no need to force them into union with us, but they have an ideological  need to compel us into their collective, but one that they are willing to fight and die for?  I doubt it. Not this generation of basement dwellers.  " Yeah, I know that battle was today, but staying in the basement smoking weed and playing video games off the old man's  car battery seemed less dangerous and more fun.. its the govt's job to deal with the fascists right?"

I don't see another Lincoln trying to put humpty dumpty together again, much less finding armies willing to fight to do it... by the time this  comes to a head anyone wanting to use force to keep us together  will have difficulty in paying their army in anything  but the spoils of war, and because America is so well armed, those spoils will come at a very high price. We won't be throwing bottled of human excrement at the police.

Wouldn't those WMD attacks have to happen in densely populated centers?  They cannot simply sweep flyover country as that is where most of the food is produced.

But whatever...at this point I expect both nothing and everything.

You are right about illusions though...dumbocracy, kabuki economy...as long as people find it easier to deny reality the status quo will not ever change.

Funny thing is though...these statist/globalist assholes might just have planted the seed that germinates their own demise - globalism itself.  If things unzip from more than one corner...no matter how fast they run to the kill-switch or leave the master control switch in standby mode...once The Panic starts no circuit-breaker is going to be worth a bucket of cold spit.
