I may be needing to build a decent root storage using this.. 1000 bags on amazon is about $170
I was looking into it because I need to put a proper backstop on my target range.. I just have too many animals around now so I was going to make I nice big U to control any possible ricochet .. and Sand Bags have awesome bullet stopping power.

I have a River nearby so I would get pebble sized (1/8 inch) sand from there. But people fill them withever is on hand - clay, clay concrete mixture, rice hulls, mulched straw with earth, pumice stone...
Obviously some materials will last longer than others..
