Title: Chris Squire
Post by: ToddF on June 29, 2015, 05:36:57 AM
Him and John Entwistle pretty must turned playing bass into a lead instrument.  Definitely a pioneer.  And it was only a couple of months ago he announced he had leukemia.  A sad day.

At least he made it 40 years past the dreaded 27 (http://iotwreport.com/27-rock-performers-that-died-at-the-age-of-27/).

Never a huge Yes fan, familiar with their music though, growing up in the era I did it would be hard to miss, but there is no doubt he influenced a lot of bands and bass players.

He also put out a heck of a Christmas album, a few years ago.  And not one of those watered down, "holiday-winter" albums.  A real Christmas album, so hard core he covered songs probably not heard since the middle ages, as well as some traditional.

My favorite version of Silent Night is at 13:20, partnering with Steve Hackett on guitar.
