99.99% of the time "offense" is used as a defense when truth that hits too hard is revealed by someone. The offended party has most likely been shielding themselves from this truth and its revelation brings shame & a sense of personal responsibility into the limelight...
...and for people who have lived with their collective heads up their asses for most, if not all, of their lives (or worse, have had their victim status preached to them as if it were gospel)...the limelight is too bright and it hurts their eyes.
Ironically, they become victims to the very truth that could set them free.
