He says: [before the trip] We were trying to decide what [parameters] to use to make the decision whether to take that route or not.
WTF?

That's a steep price to pay for an obvious navigational error in judgement, but that in no way shape or form exonerates this filthy scum commiting atrocity on the high seas! The other lesson to be learned here, screw negotiations with this filth, just kill them on sight! Send their vessels to the depths on sight! This scum holds itself apart from the rest of humanity, time to start treating them accordingly!

Once upon a time, we knew what to do about these scum and that put an effective end to their predations for a long time.

A President with balls would carpet bomb the Somali capital and announce publicly that every act of piracy will be followed by the same. Force them to eat their own vomit if that's what it takes to clean it up.
As far as I'm concerned the lives of four American citizens are worth the entire Somali population.

And now some 13 of the pirates are in "custody". I guess that means we'll get to give them daily three hot meals (Halal-approved), Korans, prayer rugs, and so on.
They need to be summarily executed for piracy on the High Seas and consigned to the sharks and scavengers.

Look on utube and find out how Russians deal with these scum. I watched the video, taken by a Russian sailor, It shows how the Russian patrol boat comes upon a small boat that claims that they are just fishermen. Once boarded, the russians find a large stash of weapons, including RPG's and explosives. then follow them to the mother ship, which is larger and find more weapons. So, what do the russians do?, they handcuff the pirates to their ship, plant it full of explosives, then leave them to be blown out of the water, pirates and all. Obviously, russian ships are never bothered again.
What do we do?

The left keeps telling us we can learn from other countries. I'd say Russia's demonstration is one good example to follow. ;D

Maybe I am biased, but I still like my keel-hauling idea! But I understand that not everyone is as willing to go to that length, but whacking them in the most expeditious manner possible and in a manner that ensures the safety of our people would be greatly appreciated and I think prove to be the most effective method in dealing with this ilk.

Maybe I am biased, but I still like my keel-hauling idea! But I understand that not everyone is as willing to go to that length, but whacking them in the most expeditious manner possible and in a manner that ensures the safety of our people would be greatly appreciated and I think prove to be the most effective method in dealing with this ilk.
At first I thought you said - expositious - you know, like sewing them in a pig and parading them ashore.
