I want to see this film...
Prometheus - Official Full HD Trailer - Ridley Scott, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHcHYisZFLU#ws)
It's worth the time to step through the video a frame at a time to see some of the images more clearly.

Can't wait.

Imax 3D HD trailer...has a few more different glimpses of the film.

I look forward to this more than The Avengers.
Here is an interesting fan page (http://io9.com/5879560/everything-we-know-about-ridley-scotts-space-jockeys) about the movie.

When they were talking about "Everything we know about Ridley Scott’s Space Jockeys" this is the image that came to mind:

There's a really bad follow up there somewhere!

So much for keen fashion sense. If i may be so bold to critique her clothing. First, those pants are...uh...too tight? Her choice of undergarment is a little awkward. Is it still in style to wear pants 4" too short???? With blue shoes????? She also appears to be pinching one off.....
Possibly she could pull this ensemble off if she left those extremely toned arms uncovered.
I'm gonna leave the kids out of the discussion because I believe they should be left alone and it's not their fault mama obviously chooses their clothing.
What I've noticed about mrs Obama. When her clothing is chosen (aka paid for by someone other than her) it is designed to cover up the flaws. Good fashion sense. When she is choosing (aka paying with her own dough) her clothing, it has the grace and style which can only be fully appreciated on the cover of the "people of Walmart" collection.

Good stuff Don!

Don't you feel incredibly bad for that Air Force officer standing at attention in the background? They no doubt do so out of their respect for the Office, but it must gnaw at them that the beneficiaries of their well-disciplined formality is this trashy gang living "Ni**er Rich" in the White House.

Early June, I believe.

Here is another Prometheus video (of sorts)...
Prometheus Viral Clip # 3 (David the Android) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWmbqH_z7jM#ws)
Think anything will go wrong with this android?

And one more "viral" video which is supposed to build interest in Prometheus...
Prometheus - Peter Weyland TED 2023 [OFFICIAL CLIP] - HD - (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUxdAWrsag8#ws)
And in case you are wondering what "TED" is...
It stands for Technology, Entertainment & Design and it's a liberal project to spread ideas via speeches published on the internet. www.ted.com (http://www.ted.com)
*yawn*
Call me when they have a TED speech about the dangers of marxism and socialism. I won't be holding my breath on that one.

That's Guy Pearce as Weyland. One of my faves, since "Memento".

The first review (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/prometheus-review-ridley-scott-charlize-theron-michael-fassbender-330414) is out. The word is that the film is good but not great. Hard to live up to the expectations, I suppose.
Also a slide show. (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/gallery/prometheus-concept-art-ridley-scott-324036)

Probably sat nite for mee too.
-
I'd like to see it.
Probably at the drive in
-
About to watch this right now.
Mrs IDP and I decided to make it a double feature date night at the movies. Just finished with Snow White and the Huntsman. Eh.
It had its moments. It is an interesting idea - to take the Snow White story and try to make it into a dark fantasy/romance. But the execution was mediocre at best. I haven't seen the Twilight flicks, but this film had the twilight chick, and a romantic love triangle that never came to any fruition.
Skip it.
Now, Prometheus... Review later...

If you like sci-fi and awesome scenic graphics, and you like an interesting story that keeps you guessing and thinking, with little twists that reveal the story bits at a time, check this out. It's a goodie.
But if you want an "Alien" reboot, or even a direct prequel, don't blame me if you're disappointed. The relationship to the original movies is so thin as to be nearly non-existent until the final scene. You get your cryo-stasis, your alien planet, your corporate references, your android, and alien life evolving strangely. But beyond that, expect an almost entirely new film with brand new ideas.
It's as if they set about to create a brand new sci-fi idea, using what viewers know about the original movies as a backdrop for familiarity's sake. It's totally cool, but not at all what I was expecting.
-
That actually is even more appealing to me than an Alien reboot or prequel. I look forward to seeing it.

I think you'll like it a lot. My older boy saw the midnight showing of the opening night, and he and I have enjoyed discussing it today. It offers a great expansion on the ideas presented in the first.
-
Yeah I just got back from it. I liked it. I was expecting a bit more of a connection to the Alien storyline, even though I knew this film was exploring a different tangent. But, it was still good in its own right. Brought up more questions than answers, vis-a-vis the Alien storyline.
I think Michael Fassbender perhaps put in the best android performance out of any of the films.
-
Just on a tangent, as I mentioned earlier, the Mrs and I took in two films on Friday night: "Snow White and the Huntsman", and "Prometheus". Both had Charlize Theron.
Beautiful woman, mkay? Stunning (in spite of the fact that her nostrils are asymmetrical). But her presence in both these films, at least IMHO, was throwaway. They could have plugged any movie star caliber actress into her roles - especially as the villain on SWATH. She just came across as uninteresting, flat, forced, and her supposed star power did not shine.
I compared that to her explosive performance in "Monster", where she gained a bunch of weight and played the hideously ugly serial truck-stop killer Aileen Wournos. I thought that was a notably fine acting performances, and that is the standard of her ability I had in my mind as I saw these two latest films in which she disappointed me.
So I looked up her filmography to see what else she's been in. Nothing spectacular. Of the ones I've seen, she was pretty good in "Devil's Advocate", but then, who doesn't look like the world's greatest across from Keanu Reeves. She was awfully cute in "Mighty Joe Young", but that wasn't a demanding role.
I think "Monster" was her high-bar - a fluke. I think her presence in any film is more due to her name and her pretty face than her ability to add acting dimension.
-
I read (somewhere) that the role of Wournos permanently altered Theron's psyche (the piece was not written by "her people"); if so, I'm not surprised she's taken on, since then, less challenging roles.
She did an okay job in "The Legend of Bagger Vance", was very good in "The Astronaut's Wife" and "Hancock".
-
"Stunning (in spite of the fact that her nostrils are asymmetrical)."
::hysterical::
Not a nose man myself...having a fairly good-sized beak myself I would not have noticed that!

Interesting
It definitely wasn't scary like the first Alien
Very little "action" as in blood, guts and gore.
It wasn't one of the best I ever saw but not a bad movie

I’ve seen two of the summer’s big pictures so far — this and The Avengers — and both engaged with issues and expressed points of view normally repellent to the shallow leftists who’ve dominated the entertainment industry far too long.

Might be worth a look if anyone is into SciFi reading.
A quote from one of the reviewers:
Be prepared to spend more time than usual wrestling with your take on "Which Art In Hope." It reminded me of vintage Heinlein - not in style, necessarily, but in how he's not afraid to have his heroes (and "villains?") address questions of ethics in strong clear terms. This isn't just space-opera.

Heh, yeah I haven't seen it either. Am looking forward to it. But I have no TV and don't visit the cinema. I'll be waiting to get it on NetFlix in a few months.

My brother in law is an IMAX junkie and told me it was great in IMAX.
-
I saw it in IMAX 3-D. $17 per ticket! Plus a $2 "convenience fee"!
I wouldn't mind going back to see it again, but honestly I would just prefer to see it on a regular screen. I noticed very little 3-D effect, which on the one hand I guess is good because overdone 3-D would be worse, but I'm just one of those people who has to stare at those hidden image puzzles for like 10 minutes before I see the illusion so maybe 3-D is not for me.

I can take or leave the IMAX 3D...but if I go with the brother in law, its IMAX. Actually, I enjoyed The Avengers in IMAX.
He is a techo junkie. He has a media room with a large screen...I believe 8' wide, so I rarely go back..Just wait for the Blu ray.
