This one is going to be a bust. At least for the south metro. The whole system is raising to the north. Maybe a little later, but right now, it's not snowing here.

It's definitely fizzled a bit from last tonight to this morning and even from this morning to now. Supposed to get the most snow throughout the night but the most will be done with by mid-day and most of the system does appear to be in central part of MN, north and south appear to be escaping that.
Still, my BIL is not happy about plowing this early in the season. He's kinda crabby, and he normal likes this stuff!

Pretty much the same for the Gulf Coast. ::unknowncomic::

As soon as Alan douses his flaming pants...maybe we can get a more accurate reporting from our Bayou buddy? ;D
Meanwhile...everybody enjoying Novjanberary?
Lame Duck O'Bongo using this cool weather and the interregnum to Pubbie control of Congress to issue more Imperial decrees to advance the Cult of Climate Change (http://itsaboutliberty.com/index.php?topic=12339.new#new), so celebrate more patriots rallying to the cause, burn tires and fire guns in the air!

Oh, they were doused last night. ::bashing::

Heh. Hey, I'd take those wind chills in the 50's...man, those must be brutal! ;D
Even for central and northern parts of your state, y'all are well below your November averages...if TWC data is correct.
So much for global warming...

Been in the 70s all week here. But that's supposed to change dramatically overnight and remain that way for the foreseeable future.
-
After the extended winter we just had and now this...sure seems like we're getting a double-whammy.
-

Yep. According to an AccuWeather piece I read yesterday, there are only SIX states that are NOT supposed to get snow and NC isn't on the list; S.C., Florida, Alabama, Ms and two others.
So, organize the insulateds.

We've had wind storms most of the week. Last night was gusts to 60mph. Took down one 28" diameter tree that demolished one of my portable carports. I had just replaced the cover for it last weekend. It just grazed my van leaving nasty scratches that hopefully will buff out. The entire back lot is covered in over two feet of limbs, branches, pieces of tree-trunk, and leaves. I lost two apple trees, a plum tree that I've been nursing for the last three years, and all of the blueberry bushes that I put in this year. The good news is that it ripped away about 60 feet of blackberry vines ;')
Three quarters of town has been dark since around 8:30 last night and there are fallen tree limbs everywhere. And this morning the temps dropped to freezing with promises of lows in the mid-twenties for the rest of the week.
Oh joy.

Dayum, 'Soup; sorry to hear about the damage. I'm figuring, though, that your preparations have supplied heat and light for you. Hope things are restored to relative normal soon.
-
Glad no one was hurt, 'Soup.
Now if I can just get Libertas to close the damn door....

Sorry to hear of the damages 'Soup, glad you are OK. Tree damage stinks, those just cannot be replaced quickly. We are down to one producing apple tree at the lake and of the new plantings of a couple years ago 3 of the 4 fruit trees will not make it.

Here's a little picture gallery of some of the damage to the area...

Yeah, swell...I am all too familiar with that from the tornado and straight line winds that rambled through our lake place a couple years ago...the sounds of chainsaws at work has died down from its peak but there is still some here and there as people work deeper into their property...and a lot of landscape has changed and may not look like it once did for decades/lifetimes. And the human waves of contractors descending like locusts was equally unforgettable...but those rates they charged sure won't be forgot! Bloody pirates! But I am glad I don't have to mess with power lines.
Patience and perseverance my friend.

...it always amuses me when the find other spots thatn are traditionally cold that are warmer than the poor bastards in question...like the fact for these people it is colder than Hillary Clinton's bed is somehow lacking in their awareness!

I liked this 1916 newspaper article from a companion article:

We only got down to 22 degrees last night!
-
What's amusingly ironic about that is that, today, some states do not allow chains.
-
Everybody knows chains are racist.

We have more AlGore falling this morning...how y'all doin'?

Yeah, got to have time for fun too. ::thumbsup::
I've been working on my moonlighting gig (BIL's books), running statements, updating depreciation schedules and all that stuff, have to organize a lot more stuff (payroll detail, loans etc) before I can input all that crap into the system. I think I'll knock it off here soon and have a stogie and a beer in the garage, crank up some tunes...then whip up some spaghetti with hot Italian sausage meatballs and finish off a bottle of Chianti, go back for an after dinner primo...
::whoohoo::

Man, I wish I could relax and just have fun!
I do the sound production so I have to hump the gear it, set it up and tweak it. I record each act so there's overhead there. At the end of the show I break it down, pack it up in the van and take it home.
Last season my brother insisted that I delegate some of the labor. I did so and someone walked off with a $400 audio snake so I do it all myself now.
It's not all bad - I do enjoy making things happen and we entertain a bunch of seniors with live music.
-
A labor of love, sounds like you got it going right. ::thumbsup::

Inconvenient weather happens.
Check it out...

The Jet Stream is below Alan's house! ::speechless::
Not surprisingly, Lake Superior has ice forming up weeks before schedule. AlGore must be in private plans flying in circles and spewing untold thousands of tons of globullwarmink into the atmosphere to cause this much mayhem, eh?

A week and a half before Thanksgiving and 50% of the nation is covered by snow.

Well heck, bring on the glacier! Maybe we'll finally be rid of the weak and unwanted. :D

If and when I listen/watch the weather-weenies here, they're all "when's it going to warm up, when's it going to warm up?".
It's been getting down to 20 degrees some nights. Whoa, right?! Big freakin' deal -- it's winter!
But, nope, this is North Carolina and if they cain't wear they flip-flops and shorts, that ain't right. (P.S. They wear 'em out anyway and there's me in shoes w/socks, jacket, scarf and gloves.)
-
Heh. Jus' like Alan's pic above, just with flip-flops, eh? ::facepalm::
Some people...they're just stoopit!

I'm glad I am not the only one irritated by this. It annoys me on multiple levels. For one, I hate this assumption that the default condition simply must be sunny and mild. "So when's it going to warm up?" If I have my druthers, April. How's that for an answer?
I also hate the assumption, implicit in the first assumption, that not only should sunny and mild be the default condition, but it simply must be the universally preferred condition too. In May, sure. November, December? Not so much.
I have this working theory that warm, sunny weather coincides with banal, insipid mentalities. Cold weather, on the other hand, has a purifying and rectifying quality. Much like myself, cold weather refuses to suffer fools. I consider Jack Frost to be a personal friend.
Don't even get me started on the "I don't care if it's 20 degrees, I'm wearing my cargo shorts" people. We're not impressed. It doesn't make you look tough. I guess they figure it's some sort of statement, a defiant planting of the flag on behalf of banality? That's how I interpret it, anyway.
Rant mode off. ::oldman::
-
I thought the cold would keep the undesireables out, or at least suppressed...that gets offset by the overly generous (stupid and insane) welfare bennies Minnestupid hands out...
But when it gets really cold it does tend to clamp down on the overall spread of scum...the routine criminality tends to occur in homes, malls and bars...not so much spilling into the streets and into other neighborhoods...
So, I could stand to see more of that purifying effect. ::praying::
