Even the NYTs is paying attention...

...though they struggle with their pro-Pali bias even in the face of a long-standing factual land-claim for a people with a valid claim to it...

...show me where a Pali existed in ancient times...they didn't!

I've heard and read that the modern day Palestinians are remnants of the ancient Philistines,  which is another term without a real definitive genealogical determination,  at least according to the satisfaction of today's so-called "experts" on such.
Quote
The English word Philistine comes from Old French Philistin, from Classical Latin Philistinus, from Late Greek Philistinoi, from Hebrew Philištim, "people of Plešt", and there are cognates in Akkadian Palastu and Egyptian Palusata; the term "Palestine" has the same derivation.

I'm more inclined to believe it based on the historical accounts in the Old Testament of their never ending conflicts with the Israelites,  which they persist in to this day.

They in fact held Israel in captivity for many,  many years.  It was Samson,  dedicated to God's service before his conception,  who would "begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines."

But it was David who finally got the job done.

The modern day definition of a "philistine"  (n. A smug, ignorant, especially middle-class person who is regarded as being indifferent or antagonistic to artistic and cultural values. n.One who lacks knowledge in a specific area.) gives even more credence to the assertion,  in my opinion--the Palestinians are not very nice people,  to put it mildly.

I use the term myself,  to express my disdain and disapproval of modern day "artistic and cultural values":

"Just call me Goliath,  for I am giant among the Philistines."   :supercool:

One can read the Old Testament account of how the mighty Samson slew over one thousand Philistines with nothing more than the jawbone of an ass.

And listening to many Palestinian (and Democrat) leaders today - - it would appear that they’re trying to do us in using the very same weapon.

Yeah...have to take Wiki with grains of salt...the Pali's don't refer to themselves as Philistines...and even if you could trace some back far enough to even claim it then all it proves is that they lost then and now...and the modern record of the so-called Pali people was written by the fellow Muslims in the Arab nations...who took the opportunity to kick out the dregs of their societies and dump them onto Israel and probably thought it funny as hell to do so...and started referring to them as Pali's and the dregs adopted the title the Romans made up...and the largest contingent came from Jordan so might as well call the Jordanian's!
