Title: Why Traditionalism Matters: An Interview with Wrath of Gnon

Quote
Anyone mildly interested in traditionalism —be it beautiful old architecture, the preservation of fading cultures, magnificent literature, or simply an instinctive aversion to the ugliness of modernity—has probably heard of the “Wrath of Gnon,” a mysterious Twitter user who seems to spend a lot of time unleashing beauty onto social media. He—I know he is a he because in an email exchange, he referred to a promise he made to “Mrs. Wrath” to remain anonymous—combines beautiful artwork with thought-provoking quotes, all designed to make the viewer consider his worldview: His Twitter bio simply reads “Traditionalist.”  — Jonathon Van Maren @ The Bridgehead Radio Show | From the front lines of the culture wars.

It's not that long...

I like a lot of what he says, has a detached community a la  Galt's Gulch about him.

I thought it wasn't that long either, but, if you notice, it was part of the official title, sooooo .........

I like "Wrath's" stuff.

And despite the "Gnon" handle...he is not anti-religious, not anti-Judeo/Christian anyway...just anti-apostate like that graphic above...which I as a Christian agree with.

... Notwithstanding all that, and despite the recusal from theological battles it enables, GNON is inherently a religious concept. Nature is nothing without her God. By herself, she is no more than a series of adventitious events, not as a whole ordered to any purpose transcendent to herself – which is to say, not ordered. Except insofar as they are grounded in Eternity and ordered under his Law, events are just stuff happening for no reason, and cannot therefore by themselves sway us authoritatively. If Nature is just stuff bouncing around, then any order we might ourselves propose for our lives is just as good as – nay, better than – her dead aimless thrashings. For, we evidently have reasons of our own, even if there be no others. Why subject ourselves to mere chaos? Why subject ourselves to anything at all? If there be no God of Nature, there can be no reason, no rhyme to things, in the end nothing to which we might subject ourselves in the first place. Any sort of subjection in that event would be no more than a basic and stupid misprision of the true situation.
