Canadian Firearms legislation getting an overhaul

The Public Safety Minister announced today sweeping legislation that would roll back decades of liberal gun control legislation

Two years after turfing the Federal Long Gun Registry, the Conservative government announced today legislation that would roll back several cornerstones of the infamous "Firearms Act' of the Liberal government.

In my opinion the 2 most important elements of the reforms are 1) Curbing the powers of the RCMP and Chief Firearms Officers (our version of the BATF), 2) Essentially slapping down the RCMP ( Queens Cowboys ) when they arbitrarily banned 2 entire classes of rifles, notably the Swiss Arms and CZ 858.

The legislation will be tabled in the House of Commons in September and I expect quick passage in a Conservative Majority Parliament and Senate.

On a personal note, I guess I have to get out my cheque book for a donation...

I hope this comes to pass for you guys. Maybe the RCMP breaking into hundreds of homes during that flooding put the lie to this "common sense, reasonable gun law" canard that liberals always trot out. Because what was the slightest bit reasonable about that? I wonder if it would have become a big story without Sun News.

Hah!  I'm good with anything that makes lefty heads explode; especially good when the subject is guns.

It is both sad and interesting to see Canada showing glimmers of reversing course after such a thorough and long embrace of socialism, at just the moment that the United States seems hell-bent on going to opposite direction.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Let the Frogs and Toronto merge with the US northeast into some left wing land of lollipops and unicorns. The US red states and Canadian western provinces could then likewise merge. We could then take back the other territory after they've done us all the courtesy of destroying themselves with weapons grade stupidity.
