Quote
EUHARLEE, Ga. (NBC) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy by a police officer.

The family of Christopher Roupe says the teen had a Wii game remote in his hand when he opened the door to officers serving an arrest warrant for his father.

The officer says she believed the teen was holding a pistol and fired.

A neighbor said, “Going to the Marine Corp., he’s never been in trouble. Just a good kid all the way around.”

The night of Valentine’s Day, Christopher and other family members were inside the trailer when two officers came to arrest Roupe’s father for a probation violation.

According to the search warrant, a female officer said, “Before the door could be opened, she heard what she believed to be the action of a firearm.”

At that point, “She began drawing her duty weapon.”

When Christopher opened the door, the report said, “A male subject opened the front door pointing a pistol and pulled the trigger.”

That officer fired one shot and killed Roupe.

Roupe’s family says the object in his hand wasn’t a gun.

Cole Law, the family’s attorney, said, “The family says Chris went to the door holding the Wii remote to the gaming system, opened the door and was immediately shot.”

According to the attorney, no one in the family has a handgun.

According to family friends, there are several BB guns in the home but they are rifles, not handguns.

The neighbor said, “I believe it was a Wii remote. I do not picture Christopher ever opening a door on anybody with a gun in his hand. That’s just not him.”

What the hell is this world coming to. Just in case you think idiot cops are gendered men, this one is gender female.

Next time, have a gun, the biggest you can handle...don't answer the door.  Anybody comes in blast away.  Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

How do you mistake a Wii controller for a gun?   Most Wii controllers are white and look nothing like a gun.
