Title: Federal City Police
Post by: charlesoakwood on April 19, 2012, 10:11:07 AM
Transforming America, one amendment at a time.

Houston can't afford it's own police force having spent all it's money on sports
stadiums, convention halls, the homeless and the self-serving bureaucrats.
Thank goodness the DHS is stepping up to protect it's citizens.

A new program in Houston will place undercover TSA agents and police officers on buses whose job it will be to perform bag searches, watch for “suspicious activity” and interrogate passengers in order to ‘curb crime and terrorism’.

Perry should announce that they are not welcome, unlawful, and that they will be arrested on sight.

I am guessing that bus riding in Houston will suddenly take a nosedive as people find that walking or hitchhiking is preferable to rubbing elbows with the secret police.

Uniformed federal police, as ubiquitous as municipal and state police are now, has been one of the statists' wet dreams for some time now. This is just another intermediate step in that direction.  I have always suspected that the most expedient way for them to do it would be through the absorption of local agencies.

Look at how dependent virtually all cities and states are on federal grants, already. That's another big intermediate step. In some cases the funding from the feds is so substantial that the agency in question is already a de facto federal police force.

TSA’s VIPR team worked with the Alton Police Department at the local Amtrak station. (http://www.pakalertpress.com/2012/03/31/tsa-continues-to-expand-operations-outside-of-airports-with-vipr-teams/)
...Alton’s population in 2010 was a mere 27,865 and the city is only 16.6 square miles.

and a kicker:

In seeking to fulfill this vision, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) aspires to avoid burdening minority and low-income populations with a disproportionate share of any adverse human health or environmental risks associated with our efforts to secure the Nation. DHS joins with other departments and agencies to appropriately include environmental justice practices in our larger mission efforts involving federal law enforcement and emergency response activities

I seem to recall there being news a few months ago about the TSA expanding to patrol and interdict the highways as well.  How long before we see TSA patrol cars, lights, sirens, and all?

I know Alton.  Nice small town on the river.

Has anyone in Alton complained?

I doubt it.  That would take time from a casino visit.

DHS Announces Halloween Checkpoints In Tennessee To Keep Children Safe

Following the announcement that TSA agents would be involved in manning highway checkpoints in Tennessee, the State’s Homeland Security Commissioner said yesterday that a raft of new “security checkpoints” would be in place over the Halloween period to “keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters”.

Well, if it’s ‘for the children’, who are we to kick up a fuss?

“State Troopers will be conducting safety checkpoints, sobriety roadblocks, saturation patrols and other enforcement techniques to look for aggressive or impaired drivers,” over the next few days, in order to “keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters,” according to Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons, whose office’s role includes “terrorism prevention”.

“People generally associate the TSA with airport security…but now we have moved on to other forms of transportation, such as highways, buses and railways,”  said Kevin McCarthy, TSA federal security director for West Tennessee.

Yep, he campaigned on it.  It can't be said his goals were kept secret.

AllGov.com reports the VIPR budget for FY 2012 is $109 million. It supports 37 VIPR teams. According to the DHS, these “teams are comprised of personnel with expertise in inspection, behavior detection, security screening, and law enforcement for random, unpredictable deployments throughout the transportation sector to prevent potential terrorist and criminal acts.”

It is specifically authorized by 6 U.S.C. § 1112 which states that the program is to “augment the security of any mode of transportation at any location within the United States,” a clear violation of Posse Comitatus. The federal effort to nullify Posse Comitatus and violate the Tenth Amendment under the rubric of anti-terrorism is
 huge (http://law.onecle.com/uscode/06/index.html)
