This is all a dialectical progression. The thesis: freedom (from sexual restraint, from “men as fish”, resulting in children and/or broken homes), the antithesis, fostered by the thesis itself: freedom has a cost (having to pay for children), leads to the synthesis: finding innovative ways to finance “freedom”. While it is more obvious to point out the young single mothers decrying their poverty, another theme on the Tumblr are the numerous products of single mothers and/or divorce. It is worth looking back a few decades to consider the root causes of the current malaise and the attendant frustration with society that many young people are expressing through their rabble-owsering. Those of us who lean rightward – those who discuss moral relativism and cultural decline, and especially those of us who identify with the Manosphere – should realize that OWS serve as the foothills to the very Rockies that we’ve been discussing forever. That is, the degradation of the family structure – feminism’s ideal. What were we expecting the scourge of single motherhood and debased family structures to look like? How were we expecting it to play out? As some big flash of self-admitted children of single mothers and broken families railing against The System? As if they’d wear t-shirts letting us know. The products of that social and cultural change were folded into the rest of society; their problems blended with everyone else’s and presented to observers as a catalogue of grievances. A good analogy would be the very same financial crisis that OWSers were agitated by: the sub-prime has poisoned the prime.
