Title: Culture Watch - Pro Sports Trash Edition
Post by: ToddF on November 27, 2013, 02:37:07 PM
Because it's needed.  Maybe even a separate section. ;-)

Vikings' Erin Henderson suing over drunk driving arrest last week (http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_24611586/vikings-erin-henderson-suing-over-drunk-driving-arrest)

Quote
The second-year starter contends police did not have "articulable grounds to make an investigatory stop"

No doubt the field sobriety test included saying "articulable grounds to make an investigatory stop" three times, while standing on one foot and pointing at his nose.

Man up, boy.  Take your punishment like a man, and not a Nancyboy Football League type.

When it rains trash, it pours

A.J. Jefferson: Former Viking charged with strangling girlfriend (http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_24614228/j-jefferson-former-viking-charged-strangling-girlfriend)

Quote
She awoke to Jefferson yelling at her for ignoring his text messages to her, and he grabbed her around her throat, according to the complaint.

Looks like this particular nancyboy did find someone he could handle.  It certainly wasn't the Packers.

Highly doubtful. Unless the legal definition of not having "articulable grounds to make an investigatory stop" is "muhfukkah diss me bra."

Maybe they should have an outing on a boat as a team-building exercise.

The Vikings aren't any worse or better than any other team. In fact, it should really be called the National Felons League.

It's OK, the way they are all headed they'll be sporting tutu's and playing touch...the institution of NBA-like flopping rules and NHL-like interference rules will complete the transition to the era of scripted contests and the last of the manly team sports will be no more...

I have more thoughts on this jackass...

http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/01/03/chris-kluwe-the-nfl-would-rather-have-felons-and-racists-and-abusers/ (http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/01/03/chris-kluwe-the-nfl-would-rather-have-felons-and-racists-and-abusers/)

...he has ZERO chance of winning any kind of lawsuit, if that is his aim (frankly I think his only aim is to piss in everybody's punchbowl, it is what self-absorbed attention-whores do after all) so unless he is coming out and announcing he is a faggot he has no standing to make a hostile workplace claim.  In the NFL they can fire your ass for any reason they like...they don't even need a reason...as long as it is permitted in the collective bargaining agreement Klueless Kluwe can pound sand.  If on the other hand it can be proven by the Vikings that no such comments were ever made by any of their staff then those singled out by Kluwe (like the special teams coach) have an excellent defamation case they can throw at him!

Players should know not to say anything controversial, period, but like their idolized brethren in the entertainment biz, stupid is as stupid does.

As usual, South Park has a clip relevant for just about any manufactured controversy.  Maybe he's just trying to piss off the entire NFL so players will attack him:

South Park America-Mr. Slave as a Child (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWEjS9o8wjM#)

The idea of a kicker being mouthy about anything is itself hilarious.

How about if we name this "Culture Watch- Pro Sports Edition"?

It could reach 50 pages in a couple months just on the NFL and NBA alone.

Don't forget to include many in baseball [MLB], NHL [hockey, though not a bad - yet] and college football is sure moving in that direction also.

He's got the money to sue, but not the money to buy a ticket?  Nope, not the issue; he's suing on behalf of the other "poor slobs" that can't buy tickets.  Look -- an altruist.  ::)

Altruist?

Heh, good one!

More like a clown using this as the vehicle to get his mug in the news and pretend he cares about the common man.

It's like a red light flashing - look at this guys money-making business, he's got to be out earning street cred for some purpose!

A real altruist would not target just one enterprise...all major sports are run the same way...wealthy individuals and corporations will always get to the front of the line because they can afford it.  You think owners are willing to take on losses?  How else top pay for these outrageous salaries?  And the league offices want their cut too.

This clown is just an attention-seeking jackass with ulterior motives.  No doubt he has much more in common with those whom he is attacking than those whom he pretends to stand for!

I don't have either team, although I prefer the Broncos. All I want are the right scores and totals for my pool and the other pools I entered.

Just like the game - it sucked. Still a couple of pools to find out about, though.

For the entire year, I didn't win anything on my yearly pool, not on my Super Bowl pool. I did win some at the Legion posts throughout the regular season, though.

My weekly picks stunk, didn't win a single week nor did finish high enough (10th or 11th) for overall year (pays out only three places).  Stink, stunk, stank.

My behind experienced a lot of hand and leather growing up, no doubt the progs would have my old man behind bars today, meanwhile snuffing babies in the womb is safe, legal, rare and apparently loving and pro-woman.

Having said that I never had welts beyond the rump.

Idiots saying the NFL has a women/domestic abuse issue, but really who are always involved in these stories?  They never want to talk about that, not honestly anyway.

As for AP I predict the NFL on the heels of this Rice affair will come down hard to please the mob, but the mob can never be pleased, so things will only get worse.  Increased polarization is assured, honest discussion of real issues to be tabled.

In the wake of the Sugar Ray Rice and Adrian Beaterson cases...NFL appoints Fem's with proper street cred to expanded chickification staff chartered to look into matters of domestic violence (does that include excessive bitchiness and getting kneed in the balls?) and sexual assault policies...

Since the rule of law needs to be ignored and PC/diversity/multiculti PR is more important dontchyaknow...

The truth of the matter is that the rate of criminality in the NFL is lower than that of the general public. (http://www.redstate.com/2014/09/16/nfl-hotbed-wife-child-beaters/)

Quote
... No, the NFL does not have a “violence against women problem”, or at least not one that is worse than the public in general.  As Jim Picht of Communities Digital News shows us, the incidence of domestic violence by NFL players is actually around half that of the same age group in the general United States population.

But the rate of publicity in the NFL is 1,000 times that of the general public...

Hey, why is that?

Oh yeah, duh me-dee-uhh!  They sweep anything disparaging about minorities in general under the rug while beating the crap out of organizations run by white folk like the NFL...the proof is in the fact that they are disproportionately attacking the NFL and the Vikings by a ratio of 100:1 to that of the person at hand who happens to be black...and they know how to exploit this dynamic and get easily guilt-tripped idiots to be their own worst enemies and the morons keep falling for it time after time...

Just like we say with politics...stop playing their game!

From the link - "But of course the Left will take any opportunity to try to stamp out allegedly patriarchal, male-dominated activities like football.  Why, the NFL must pay for their discriminatory, abusive, female-excluding institutionalized sexism! And they’ll take advantage of any kind of manufactured outrage they can to do it."

Again...STOP PLAYING THEIR GAME!!!  (Yelling at the guilty only!!!)
