Title: Not the first time I've heard this technique works

I remember a story when I was a kid where this was employed.

Me?  I think that takes some nerve to stick your arm down the throat of a big angry sharp-fanged predator!

Also, I am not of a fan of being in dangerous critter country without a couple of the biggest guns I have...roaming Grizzly country with nothing but a bow and arrow holds zero appeal to me.

Some states restrict firearm (pistol) carry when bow hunting others not...same for rifle hunting...I'd say violating the law beats being dead if it comes down to that.

My thoughts, exactly. You'd have to have cajones that clank.

I'm usually in my self-preservation mode, so I bring what's necessary for me to survive. Which doesn't usually include a stick and string.
