Chances are Boeing sub-ed it out...either way, manufacturer has to be held accountable and it has to be fixed.

It's never anything "big" like the avionics or engine...a relatively simple and less expensive system that is nonetheless critical that gets hosed up with our stuff.  With others its the big stuff.  But in a game where any disadvantage can bite your arse hard in a blink of an eye...there is little room for error...as in practically zero room.

There should be a contractor in the blocks for stuff like this...inexcusable.

I don't know how (or if) this figures into things but I do have a (short) story to share...

Years ago I was working as a warehouse/shipping clerk for a tool company. One day I got instructions to open boxes of machine tools and affix "Made In America" stickers to each machine tool.

I got to thinking about this because it was apparent that the tools were of Chinese origin. I declined to participate and they assigned the job to someone else. I should have said something right then & there because two weeks later I was abruptly fired (no reason given).

I called around to a bunch of agencies trying to report them but couldn't get the attention or interest of anyone.

My point is that it is possible that counterfeit parts could have been substituted without Boeing knowledge.

True.

But Boeing is the general and responsible.  It would be incumbent upon them to go after the Sub who made/subbed/swapped the shoddy part.

Jeesh, I thought people love to sue others?

Unless you are suggesting somebody in the military/government procurement swapped out the good part for shoddy ones and sold the good ones on the black market and pocketed the difference.  Yeah I could see that happening here and there.  If it is that case then there needs to be investigations, trials and prompt executions.
