Why any trappings of religious practices? They should be ok with cremation and being included in cement mix?
-
Because they're nutz.

Atheistic churches have been growing (think they started in the U.K.). They want a sense of community & a way to systematize their belief system (which they claim ISN’T a “belief”).
So what they’re saying is that they want the “good” feelings that belonging to a “caring” community brings – but their worldview has no way of measuring “good” or "caring" (only pragmatism) – and feelings wouldn’t factor in with creatures randomly/meaninglessly generated from a slime+time origin.
They want all the trappings of God’s world…without having to acknowledge God.
They're fighting the cognitive dissonance which tells them there IS a creator while at the same time attempting to remain sovereign in their world (which is really God's world). Like Pan says...NUTZ!

Ashes into concrete mix! I am trying to be pragmatic and help them!
I'm a people person! :D

I no longer have any patience for people trying to co-opt the transformative, civilizing, and moralizing aspects of Christianity while rejecting the theological, divine nature of it. Man cannot be his own moral arbiter. They are delusional to think so.
Speaking of delusion, look at the absurd lengths they go to to avoid acknowledging God. They come up with these explanations of the universe that are God in all but name. A popular one currently is this notion that our universe is some sort of simulation. Why can't they just say God's creation then?

Oh yeah .... yer a people person. ::)

Cool. If it's all a simulation (replicated on infinite earths, with infinite combinations) then it doesn't matter who I slaughter, rape or assassinate...because simulations have zero intrinsic worth. De-simulation & de-simulating wraith-like entities could become the stuff of Blade Runner or Looper like realities; and HOW exactly does one prosecute a simulation? ;D
Positing an alternate variant of reality is all well & good - but those variants MUST interact with natural law, God's law & the rule of law - and when they don't, you can either royally eff up their thought process, or run roughshod over them physically by playing by their perverse alternative.
-
In this simulation can I...oh fergitaboutit!

The study found that 76 percent of Swedish respondents said they were either “not religious” or a “convinced atheists”.
That would explain some of Sweden's problems.

Oh, they have a religion alrighty, it's Leftism.

They're going to have a new religion called Islam, because something always beats nothing. Now that's some irony for them: in their zeal to purge religion from their society, the leftist nihilists have produced a spiritually decrepit culture ripe for the taking by an expansionist religion from the outside. One far more intolerant of divergence than the hated Christianity that they so enthusiastically purged from their culture.

Yup. And once that transformation is complete they can all enjoy a 7th century life in a cold nation. ::smallestviolin::
