Pride of Wisconsin Rapids, legendary short track racer in the Midwest (a feature at the Minnesota State Fair Labor Day Miller 300 race), never finished better than 11th in any NASCAR event, but he was a character, a stand up guy...the lead character in Days of Thunder (COle Trickle) was based upon him, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Not sure what this mystery ailment was, may never know, but he was a good guy and I hope he finds peace.

R.I.P. Mr Trickle.
