Time to change the stump speech talking points, I guess...

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Not one question 'bout that in the debate.  I really didn't think he was that big a squish. He's right up there with Leslie Graham.

I've been hearing about this for a year, now.  Probably for the rest of our lives.

Yeah, the peak isn't looking so peakish!  The sheep who follow a bad shepherd will change their tune when the bad shepard flips the record over and plays the cooling tune from the 1970's...

Darn!

I prefer a cold one after a hot day than a rum by the fire after a cold day.

Looks like I still need to find a warm island.

Yes.  Be prepared for anything.  ;)

Eh.  I can tolerate cold weather better than hot.

Tonight when I got home from work I went around picking up twigs and branches from the yard, in preparation for mowing in the next day or two.

By the time I was done, sweat was pouring off my face, and it wasn't even hot.

I frickin' hate sweating.

I detest hot weather. I'd be perfectly content if it never got above 70. Ever.

I like it hot...so, yeah, I'm all for global warming. Except they went and changed it on me so now it's climate change.  :P

I think they're even trying to get traction with a new one: "global climate disruption"

The past is to the right (70) and current is to the left (0).  It looks like we are bobbling along OK, another thousand years on the chart and we will know more.

Climate

The early Paleocene was cooler and dryer than the preceding Cretaceous, though temperatures rose sharply during the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum. The climate became warm and humid worldwide towards the Eocene boundary, with subtropical vegetation growing in Greenland and Patagonia, crocodiles swimming off the coast of Greenland, and early primates evolving in tropical palm forests of northern Wyoming.[2] The Earth's poles were cool and temperate; North America, Europe, Australia and southern South America were warm and temperate; equatorial areas had tropical climates; and north and south of the equatorial areas, climates were hot and arid.[3]

The name Eocene comes from the Greek ? (eos, dawn) and ? (kainos, new) and refers to the "dawn" of modern ('new') mammalian fauna that appeared during the epoch.

The Eocene global climate was perhaps the most homogeneous of the Cenozoic; the temperature gradient from equator to pole was only half that of today's, and deep ocean currents were exceptionally warm.[5] The polar regions were much warmer than today, perhaps as mild as the modern-day Pacific Northwest; temperate forests extended right to the poles, while rainy tropical climates extended as far north as 45°. The difference was greatest in the temperate latitudes; the climate in the tropics however, was probably similar to today's.[6] The recent discovery of a giant snake (estimated length 13 m) in Colombia that may have lived during the Eocene suggests, on the contrary, that the tropics were much warmer than today,[7][8] a conclusion in accord with numerical simulations of the climate during the Eocene.[9]

That chart shows that the average temperatures throughout all of human history have been considerably cooler than the preceding 60 million years or so.

So we're supposed to get all upset about a return to the mean?
