Now, here's the story.

An Opelousas man is behind bars for having a semi-automatic weapon. At 2:45 Saturday, Opelousas Police responded and found two young black males fleeing the area. Officers were able to catch one of the individuals, identified as 21 year old Jasper Richard. Richard had a hi-point 9mm semi-automatic handgun in his possession. Richard was booked into the Opelousas city Jiail for possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

I'm so glad no deception was used in this story.

So gee, why don't they tell us the type of transmission in every car involved in a crime? Isn't that just as pertinent (i.e., not at all)? This is exactly the same as driving a car without a license plate, or with a tampered VIN, and the media finding it necessary to point out that the car has a 7 speed automatic transmission.
