Here in the upper plains we have bobcats/lynx...and the occasional cougar sighting...but it seems as though their numbers are rising and they are moving east to find territory.
Oh, and to be clear...these are the four-legged kitties...not the older two-legged kittens out prowling for younger males!

They've been captured on game cams down here. The WLF hasn't figured out if it was the same cat that covered quite a few miles between cameras or if there's more than one.

I think they are far more dispersed than people realize. The state wildlife agencies refuse to acknowledge it, though I don't know why. There's an interesting discussion about it at WRSA.
