His post Jefferson Starship band that turned into Jefferson Starship (as opposed to the ongoing Starship) when he stole his name back.

RIP.  A heck of a great musical run for him, from the mid 60's to the 90's.

Yep, it was a great run. Starship lost me when they went "corporate rock" but there are still a few tunes that I enjoyed.

Nothing is forever...

At one time, I had an Airplane album pre-Grace Slick

Found this linked on Jorma Kaukonen's blog, one of Kantner's last performances.  That's David Freiberg (who originally bailed with Kantner, right before We Built This City), on the right, still doing this at a young 77.   ::speechless::
