Title: A&E brings Duck star back --
Post by: rustybayonet on December 27, 2013, 08:51:11 PM
LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson will return to work on A&E's reality show despite his comments about gay immorality, the channel said Friday, reversing its decision to suspend him after facing a boycott backlash.

In a statement Friday, A&E said it was bringing Robertson back after discussions with his Louisiana family featured in the hit reality series and "numerous advocacy groups."

A & E caves, comes to their corporate senses.

What a joke. I'll bet the GLAAD gals and guys go on the offensive. (As if . . .)

Quote
In a statement, the network cited its "core values" of "inclusion and mutual respect" to explain why "we reacted so quickly and strongly." "While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the 'coarse language' he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would 'never incite or encourage hate.' We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold."

GLAAD Language Police to file charges. If you don't agree with the homosexual agenda, you must maintain silence, or then be charged with hate speech.

Even though I'm not a watcher of this TV show, I'm glad the 'majority' stood up to the minority.
A&E caved to save the only things they care about -- ratings and money.  But what does this say about our society?  We let minorities dictate, morality, religion, government, etc, etc, but don't mess with our frivolous TV shows, and we wonder why this country is going to h*ll in a handbasket.  ::whatgives::

Well, I'll watch Duck Dynasty, but nothing else on their network. They caved because of money and ratings, not over any type of value system.  If I were the Robertsons, when the contract expired, I'd be gone to a more friendly environment, if that exists in TV land.

DD is about the only thing A&E puts out that I would watch anymore anyway, and DD isn't really all that important to Mrs and I.  It's fun, but the fun is from the exaggeration and parody of "redneck" life.

Hey, I'm a "redneck" myself in the old and traditional way ... I perform honest work for my living Jack.   ::cussing::

I have a simple rule - stay out of gator/snake infested swamps.  Being north of I-20 makes that a little easier.   ;D
