“The turkeys are taking over,” one resident told News 12 New Jersey. “It’s like an infestation." (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/new-jersey-homeowners-say-aggressive-turkeys-are-terrorizing-community/ar-BBWvWPz?ocid=spartanntp)
... Despite fielding a number of complaints, the local animal control office can't do anything about the turkeys due to state regulations.
“It's nuisance wildlife we are not licensed to trap, relocate, or as they use the word, harass the turkeys or any wildlife, for that matter, that's a nuisance," Toms River Animal Control’s Richard Barbosa told WABC.
First of all, it's a retirement "community", 55 and older, and the fowl are damaging vehicles and breaking windows and attacking people.
Second, and this is what makes my blood boil: the State has declared such infestations as "nuisance" (which they are), yet, YET, no one is, by law, allowed to mitigate the nuisance. The law mandates just living with it as any other actions constitute "harassment". How screwed up is that?

It's NJ ::whatgives:: Should extend turkey season but that'll never happen

Obviously, breaking a stupid law or two is clearly called for and removal of said pests can and should occur without anybody incurring statist retribution...
In short...pluck 'em!

The residents need to STFU and let it die down and then just go out there and use guns or fire works to scare them away. Don't get caught with a dead one that will trigger(no pun) a red flag law.

I forget where I was driving...somewhere in town, I see those buggers going up to the lake all the time...now they are encroaching deeper into human areas...people were risking other peoples lives by locking up their brakes on a two lane highway to avoid hitting these things...idjits...they can fly (low and slow but they fly) and you do not endanger others by slamming on your brakes!
People...they're the friggin' worst!

A local lakeside park featured a sign at the entrance that stated, "Do Not Molest The Ducks"
I often wondered, "How does one even accomplish that?!"
::whatgives::

You use a gun in NJ and I guaran-damn-tee ya someone will rat you out. Most of those people are f'd in the head. Fireworks are hardly any better.
The first part of your prescription is good, and then the sane folks need to organize a quiet raiding party, at night, and let the "disappearances" commence.

They showed a clip of the neighborhood on The Five last nite. I see many around here but it's rural here. They looked like a swarm of blackbirds there were so many.
