Title: Ayn Rand We the Living Trailer
Post by: patentlymn on January 08, 2025, 02:38:00 PM

I found this. I have the movie BTW.  It was based on the Ayn Rand book, which I read.
I recall the movie changed the ending.
The movie was made in Italy, in Italian, about Russians, with now English subtitles.
One thing unusual to me was that the commie in the leather coat at 1:25 was an admirable character and her  lover on the side.

"We the Living" is the film classic based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Ayn Rand.  The movie was produced in Italy during World War II, then banned and nearly lost forever. It stars Rossano Brazzi ("South Pacific") and Alida Valli ("The Third Man").  The film was recently released on a special edition DVD which includes all the scenes that were deleted at Ayn Rand's request and notes on why she wanted them removed.  The bonus disc also has a 35 minute documentary that tells the story of the film's rediscovery and restoration. A rare interview with "We the Living"'s producer is featured. More about the film and the documentary at www.wethelivingmovie.com (http://www.wethelivingmovie.com) which includes a link to buy the DVD.

Well, don't leave me in suspense!  Did she lure the secret police guy to her lair and slit his commie rat-bastard throat or what?

I can't stand not having a happy ending...

It has been a along time since I saw it. I think it is more likely she effed his brains out. I recall she has a lover played by an Italian heartthrob and later also loves the commie. If memory serves, the movie shows that the revolution devours its own and show the slimy commie individuals as self serving.

Well, I'm used to disappointment...  At least the last part there is spot on...
