Title: An O'BamaVoter Awakens From Her Slumber
Post by: trapeze on July 10, 2011, 12:22:39 AM
Found this at BigGovernment (http://biggovernment.com/bparks/2011/07/08/the-regretful-obama-voter-speaks/#more-295168). Just goes to show that "stuck on stupid" is not necessarily a permanent condition.

There is an interview with the O'BamaVoter transcribed there so click on the link after watching this video:

There are a lot of these "old school" dems out there.  I spent a lot of time with one here at my Sales training.  You get him talking about what he believes in an then point out the the Dems oppose it, and here are the 5 things they did this year. Most of them have the attitude that "it doesn't matter which party" you vote for - and there is a basis for that. But why vote for the one who is outspoken in their opposition to your values? The one that supports affirmative action, the one that opposes individual freedom, the one who opposes personal responsibility. JFK is dead, and this ain't your daddy's party. They are dies in the wool communists/Marxist/socialist/fascists now- and the only reason the GOP  are so bad is because with that kind of opposition,  they can afford to be.

The probelm is these people are really conservative - they just aren'tawake enough to see the disconnect between what they think Dems stand for and what they actually stand for.

The power of propaganda indoctrination and the media, but I repeat myself.

Another problem is a lack of a credible alternative. We may look at their history of voting against their values and shake our heads. But I can completely sympathize with someone who doesn't see the GOP as the answer to that dilemma.

It seems impossible to be an alternative to communist/progressive values if your own party is laced throughout with cadidates that clearly embrace them which is the major hangup of the GOP. At least 30% of the party embrace "big government" in every way shape and form despite all attempt to point out that it translates into loss of liberty for the indivdual. Either we as conservatives, purge the GOP of these sick progressive minds or we transfer our loyalty full tilt to a new party. Either presents a massive problem because it can't happen fast enough and the split that will occur will allow Obamakov and his minions to positively make the nation surrender to the gravity of falling from the cliff.

There may be a little hope for us after all.

Except for the issue of abortion, you've described my neighbor.  He's awake, though.  I've pointed out the discrepancies between the way he lives and the way he votes enough times that he's awake alright.  What happens at this point in the discussion is he brings up his nasty, Republican parents, despite two very much more decent Republican voters (although we're registered as Unaffiliated) living right next door, and then admits that sometimes his "thinking" doesn't make sense.  Yeah, no kidding.  Conversation over.

I've given up on him and any other similar person.  Maybe I'm just not the right kind of personality to attempt a political conversion; both parties just end up mad.

You can't reason with "stuck on stupid." They have to make the leap themselves. They have to hit bottom and realize that they are, indeed, on the bottom and decide on their own to do something about it.

There is a lot of truth in the old saying about leading a horse (or, in this case, a donkey) to water.

Tough love baby!  Sooner or later you have to stand on your own two feet.  The smarter ones learn this lesson early!
