Get to go the the U2 concert tonight. Not a huge fan, I like a few songs, but tagging along with family and the people watching could be fun. Chance of rain goes up to 50% by 8pm though, so sitting in an outdoor stadium might prove problematic. Seems like when we do get rain it is accompanied by gale-force winds and torrential rain. Don't know if I should go poncho or light raincoat...the latter might be too warm and the former might turn into a parachute and carry me away. I guess I'll live dangerous and go poncho.
I heard a local radio guy talk about Bono, says if he starts spouting off about carbon footprint or climate crap when this traveling road show costs $750k/venue he'll say something. I guess I'm in that boat too. We'll see if I make any new friends tonight. I do like his recently publicized loathing of taxes though, we got that in common.
Can't find the right t-shirt to wear though...I think I forgot my "Resist Socialism" & "Global Warming Heretic" ones at the lake.
::gaah::
It'll have to be one of my Navy oriented ones.

When ya see Bono, ask him how his taxes are going. ::hysterical::

I'm sure you'll find a way to enjoy it - even if he is an overbearing prima donna.
Boy am I burnt (literally).
My brother and I took the trucks to Goodguys today. That meant getting up and on the road by 5:00AM. What a blast! The weather around here has been so damp and dreary, but today the sun came out. I don't know how much longer this hobby is going to last, what with the dhimmicrats doing their damnedest to kill it off one way or another. But for at least the weekend hot-rodding is alive and well.
Then I got a call from my mom. She was all worried because she saw on the boob-toob that there had been a shooting at a local car show and 8 people had been injured. It turned out to be the mexicans at their own show 20 miles away.
My mom should know by now that if there's any shooting to be done it will be by me, not at me... ::rockets::

I'd expect that to not be much of a comfort, Soup. ::whatgives::

Never had the chance, oh well.
Concert was pretty entertaining, despite the downpour that comprised most of it. The beastly stage contraption they built for lighting & video was impressive. I think the poor weather and cloud base actually made their lighting more interesting.
Had to put up with the usual blather about Burma, something about Somalia and a tribute to Gabby Giffords, but how much of that matters to the majority of people...I dunno. I know it doesn't impress me, that's all that matters, right?
But I give them credit, even during the worst of the rain & wind they played on. The stage had bridges on either end that could swing out while members walked/played. The video screen could descend and they had a swing Bono played on briefly while he wore some funky laser jacket.
I guess I didn't realize the whole contraption was supposed to resemble a space ship...I guess that explains the Major Tom references.
YouTube clips of the action have already been posted.
This short one shows the wind/rain battering Bono during Beautiful Day -

And this of Vertigo really shows the rain pouring down -

But I like this one that shows lightning during I Still Haven't Found -

Glad I took the poncho. Family had fun and we got home unmolested.

Sounds like Bono's voice is still strong and clear. I admire the old fellas that can continue to do it like they did it when they were young.

Yeah. It is always interesting to see what people do when they know they are at a point when they don't have it anymore. The lure of the limelight and being relevant must be difficult for some to overcome. Since I have a voice that sounds like frogs & weasels getting stepped on and musical ability not much more skilled than a moron with a kazoo I am in no position to relate.

I can't carry a tune in a two handled bag.

Well, I guess you're with me John!
My corner needed some class!
