Title 36, U.S. Code, Chapter 10 - PATRIOTIC CUSTOMS
Sec. 170. National anthem; Star-Spangled Banner
The composition consisting of the words and music known as The Star-Spangled Banner is designated the national anthem of the United States of America.
Sec. 171. Conduct during playing
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there.

This Country has spent the last 30 to 40 years trying to make it relevant to be a Patriotic, Christian Conservative, American. We see, with the advent of Obama, just what the end results are. It will take time to educate our Young People, but by all that is Holy, we must!

I and people in my family follow protocols, but sadly we are a minority.

I went to two memorials this weekend and I expected people there would know to do this but I noticed most didn't.

It used to be taught in school, so kids grew up knowing exactly how to observe the protocol. No more. Not only is it optional in many schools, some have banned the pledge completely.
Just as with the importance of guns, it is being bred out of the population.

Our family noticed it too. It was all one of my older kids needed to see and off she went ::cussing::

I don't care what these other lib asshats do, I follow protocall, I'm not embarrassed to follow it, i'm proud of it.
The wife and I are tic holders for the Nashville Predators. It is amazing how many people do not show proper respect...or really don't know how. We'
ve had the occasion to "teach" a few around us what is proper, what is respectful. We stand, hand over heart. My hat is in my hand, it is off my head. We stand, hand over heart, until Our Flag has left the ice surface. We do not move until this occurs.The good thing is, people notice and will ask questions,,,,,, and when they do, ( this is the time the wife goes silent, she knows whats coming) I have my stock answer ready: "Do you love and respect your country"? ( usually get a "yes") "We are showing proper respect for our Flag, our country". I say it loud enough to be heard.
Most of the people up there are long time tic holders, so they know.....But we always have a few....LOL...... ::USA::

I would say it's gotten worse over the last ten years maybe? Now people are talking, eating, or whatever. I think they stand only because everyone else does. Some people always look to me as if they're confused--like what am I supposed to do? They've been brainwashed into thinking showing patriotism isn't allowed any more.
