I'll be almost 73 then. "We" will "see" it, but no guesses on what shape we'll be in then.

Buchanan, the passionate catastrophist.

I'll 61 by then if I make it and if I make it?
We will still be here!
Semper Fi ::praying:: ::USA::

I'll probably be dead by then.
Only 75 but don't take good care of myself
Either that or the zombies will have gotten me after a long drawn out battle

O! YIPPEE! Somebody old-fartier than me!
Listen, peeps, if we're gonna get this Hot War Show on the road, let's get it done while I'm still of some use, 'k? Even if it's nothing more than sitting in the wheelchair, hooked up to the oxygen, holding 'em off while y'all scramble?

I thought (http://www.eternityroad.info/index.php/weblog/single/indian_summer_of_a_civilization/) I'd seen that phrase before.
Come to think of it, I linked (http://itsaboutliberty.com/index.php/topic,3132.0.html) it.

Indeed. I wonder if Buchanan lifted it from Mr. Porretto, subconsciously or otherwise.

Ol' Remus .... (http://www.woodpilereport.com/html/index-238.htm)
Mr. Buchanan's analysis reads, as Drudge Report put it, "as if its been written to be left behind in the ruins." It's an autopsy, not a manifesto. Elsewhere in his writings, as in this older articleart-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only.gif at buchanan.org, we find a similar fait accompli tone:
No people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.
Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?
Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for “deserving” white kids.
Atty. Gen. Eric Holder famously called for a frank discussion about race. It was a dare of course, yet some took him at his word and spoke up about things nobody's supposed to noticeart-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only.gif. Those who've been around the block a few times saw his call for the Hundred Flowers Movementart-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only.gifit was. Mr. Holder saw it as a victory lap. The innocents who were willing to step forward took a face-stomping. Well okay, Holder got the last laugh, and why not, it's been fifty years in the making.
Mr. Buchanan describes a self-flagellating society at the point of organ failure. The signs are all around us. Consider: some time ago the question was, "Who will stand up for America?" Not the government schools it turns out, as this news article from a few days ago shows:
A Somerville principal has opened fire on cherished American holidays, blasting legendary explorer Christopher Columbus for “atrocities” and saying “we need to be careful” about celebrating Thanksgiving in a scathing email to teachers—who are already under orders not to let the kids dress up for Halloween. (More art-link-symbol-tiny-grey-arrow-only.gif)
Jessica Heslam, Boston Herald
'Standing up for America' is the Obama regime's new dare. They believe the key positions are already won and occupied, all that remains is to shoot the wounded and hunt down the strays. The way Mr. Buchanan tells it, they may be right.
