The coalition — which includes unions like SEIU and CWA and groups like the Center for Community Change — is currently working on a plan to bus thousands of protesters from across the country to Washington, where they will congregate around the Capitol from December 5-9, SEIU president Mary Kay Henry tells me in an interview…
One idea under consideration — pending various permitting and other logistical issues — is to have a series of tents set up on the lawn outside the Capitol, each representing a state, with the number of unemployed in each state prominently displayed. But the optics are still being worked out.
One goal of the protests, Henry says, is to pressure Republicans to support Obama’s jobs creation proposals. More generally, the aim is to highlight Congress’s misguided obsession with the deficit and overall inaction on unemployment…
“The reason we’re targeting Republicans is because this is about jobs,” she said. “The Republicans’ insistence that no revenue can be put on the table is the reason we’re not creating jobs in this country. We want to draw a stark contrast between a party that wants to scapegoat immigrants, attack public workers, and protect the rich, versus a president who has been saying he wants America to get back to work and that everybody should pay their fair share.”
I remember the heady days back when they claimed they weren't a political movement...but rather, a grass-roots movement made up of people from all political persuasions and walks of life...back before the involvement of ACORN and the SEIU was uncovered.

That statement is one of the most bass-ackwards I've ever read. "Misguided obsession with the deficit"? She really believes that government raising taxes is going to result in job creation in the private sector? Or is it she intends and expects that a government job can be "created" for the entire country?
Some people are too f'n ignorant and steeped in their ideology to live.
It is my hope and wish that they bring their crime, dirt, disease and disorder right into DC with them -- and redistribute THAT.

I imagine she's taking her queue from Pelosi who said a few months back that 'welfare and unemployment would create jobs'...remember that little gem?

Yep. One of the banalities I mentioned, in her little girl, dry-mouth voice. I can't think of a word -- harridan. Yeap, that does it.

You have to remember that the leadership of these goofs are Commies .

An OWS spokesman said yesterday that they are having a problem providing shelter , food , medical care , and sanitary conditions for their protesters . Sounds an awful lot like East Berlin in "The Good Old Days" !

That the Left's narrative that "job creation" requires "more revenue" in the form of higher taxes and that "putting people back to work" means everybody "paying their fair share" has taken any root at all is absolutely stunning. You couldn't concoct a more impossible cause/effect relationship if you tried, and yet we have people chanting it as if they can will such a thing into reality.

Doesn't matter what the leadership of these fools say write or yell so long as they have the hammer and sickle tattoo, it's good!
Useful idiots doesn't even come close to actual description. ::laserkill::

I hear them talk a lot about "economic equality" . Does that mean that the janitor at city hall should be paid as much as the mayor ?
Just wonderin' . ???
