I don't know anything about that. Never heard of it before. What does the "21" stand for?

Down syndrome is also known as Trisomy 21 which is why the date 3/21 was chosen.

Gotchya. Is Down's something that has touched your life personally Johnny? No need to answer if you don't want to, but I'm just curious if this is a cause near to your heart for more than just altruistic reasons or general awareness.

Down syndrome or Down's syndrome, (also known as trisomy 21), is a chromosomal condition caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome.

Wiki.  Shaddap.

I see why the date was chosen, Tri = 3 = 3rd month/21 = 21st chromosome.

I was not aware either that there was a day devoted to the issue.

Maybe Louis C.K. can give a little speech tomorrow.  On behalf of.  As ATONEMENT.

I was very blessed the day she was born. She is such an inspiration to me. She has every reason to be mad at the world but brings joy to all that meets her.

I personally know no family with a child of Down's Syndrome, but, from what I understand, "mad at the world" is never present within such a child.

In my experience, that is a near universal sentiment among parents of children born with Down's.

Yes, I believe that. I've seen it first hand with friends of ours.  They were in their early thirties when their 2nd child was born with Down Syndrome.  One evening the dad told me that she'd brought them more love and joy than he thought possible.  Seeing them together and the care, devotion and patience they share warmed my heart. All of her older sibling's friends just love her. They are a wonderful family.

My youngest Nephew has something, not sure it even has an official name it is so rare, but is associated with Autism, so my family is no stranger to the special needs these kids have.  I'm sure you can relate JohnnyW, there can be challenging days, but there are times when the little guy just does something cute, smiles and hugs someone that makes your day!
